Qualifying Your Goals
In the following sections we are looking for the specifics of what situation you are looking for. Understand that there are as many options as there are boat owners. Sometimes we will have delivery captains who need crew in a hurry and your expenses may be paid. Other times charter boats, who normally charge a lot for their berths, will lower their rates to our members so they can sail with a full complement. Your honest answers to the following questions will help us target your individual aspirations most efficiently. We would like to contact as few members as possible when a situation arises to better benefit your chances of getting aboard. Being ambiguous in this section will only hinder your chances and other members to sign aboard.
We understand that most people must work and that they only have so much vacation time. This should not hinder your chances of going offshore. Please tell us the time frame you are restricted to and when you would be most likely to travel? Don't fret if it seems to you that you do not have much time or have restrictions. Only realize that we will be planning into the future for you and will try and accommodate all your wishes.

Of course the ideal situation would be free passage when and where you would like to go. However, the level of accommodations dictates the costs involved. By networking with us you have the greatest chance of finding what you are looking for little cost, depending upon how flexible your schedule allows you to be. By defining your wishes we can be specific with your opportunities.

Some OPO members are looking to buy their dream offshore boat. Often the boats listed in the magazines or found on the Internet are located far from where they live. If the boat happens to be docked near where you live would you be willing to take a look at the boat first? (Yes or No) __________
If you think it may a good boat then the OPO member can fly down or hire a surveyor as the next step towards buying the boat. Our intentions are to have OPO members help with the search for good boats. It would be a great way to meet a new boat owner who is planning to take off and will need some crew (you) when they go. We have a couple of members who are marine surveyors and have offered to discount their services to OPO members. If you come across a good buy we are also interested in getting information on those boats to pass on to members looking for a boat.
