Message Board: Sailing Opportunities

Non-OPO members are welcome to view our message board. You will notice that we do not post contact information. If you think you are or would have been interested in sailing aboard one of the offshore passage opportunities than it is a good indication that you should join OPO. Once you become a member you do not need to come back to the message board as the opportunities will be e-mailed to you as they come up.

In seconds you can become an OPO member like so many other pleased captains and crew.

6/7/2023 from Marion Mass to Azores on a Hinckley 51

OPO Crew Request # 23-20 Boat owner and skipper XXXXXX is looking for one replacement crew for a total of 4. XXXXXX Luca is an OPO member and he has gotten crew from us before. He e-mails: I’m reaching you looking for a candidate to help me to bring “Vivaldi” from Marion to the Azores. Unfortunately, one of my crew bailed out and I’m looking for a fourth person. The plan is to leave Marion to Horta at the beginning of June weather dependent and the passage would take around two weeks. My crew are friends that have sailed with me in several occasions offshore in particular the Marion Bermuda race but also in the Caribbean. Both of them are boat owners. My self have sailed over 45,000 miles offshore, this would be my second tour to Europe. Vivaldi is a Hinckley 51 build in 1989 and own by me and mostly maintained professionally, at a boat yard while I’m not cruising around. Over the 30+ years that I have owned and maintained Vivaldi, I have kept her in top conditions, not only esthetically but also systems wide. On the safety side, it has a valid EPIRB, an inspected Offshore life raft, SSB and Iridium Go. The electronics are all B and G up to date, radar, chart plotters, autopilot, etc. There is a water maker and A/C powered by www.UUUUU.com generator. The engine and generator are Westerberke properly maintained. In summary, I’m looking for a nice 4th crew with Offshore experience, able to stand a solo watch, respectful, neat and cordial. Travel expenses are not covered but all the boat and onboard expenses are included. If they have questions, they can reach to me at G XXXXX@XXXX
