Message Board: Sailing Opportunities

Non-OPO members are welcome to view our message board. You will notice that we do not post contact information. If you think you are or would have been interested in sailing aboard one of the offshore passage opportunities than it is a good indication that you should join OPO. Once you become a member you do not need to come back to the message board as the opportunities will be e-mailed to you as they come up.

In seconds you can become an OPO member like so many other pleased captains and crew.

10/31/2022 from Hilton Head South Carolina to St. Maarten on a Catamaran

OPO e-mail # 22-91 Boat owner and skipper XXXXXX has a 2003 Privilege 43 catamaran named XXXXXX. He has two open cabins so is looking for two crew or a couple and one crew who will each have their own cabin. His wife and two children (son 13 and daughter 10) will also be aboard as crew. They have spent the last year learning the basics on handling this boat. This is a 1600 miles passage. He I plans to make the passage non-stop. He would like the crew to arrive at the end of October to be ready to depart with the first weather window after Nov 1st. Sailing should take about 10 days once you leave so build in some time for any weather delay and to spend a day or two in St. Maarten. He adds: We Purchased this boat one year ago and have travelled to and from the Bahamas over the last year. Spent the past year practicing sailing skills while cruising offshore in the Bahamas. This boat has been updated and well maintained by the previous owners and we have continued to keep her in great shape. The boat has four staterooms (queen size beds) and three heads, so crew will have their own cabin. Boat is equipped with a Raymarine electronics package, Iridium Go module, generator, air conditioning, water maker, solar panels, wind turbine and lithium-ion batteries. We are an easy-going family from Canada who is taking a sabbatical to explore the world. This is to be a fun, safe passage, where hopefully new friendships are formed. We have previously owned a 21’ C and C sailboat and a 24’ cruisers power boat. The passage is free with all boat expenses and onboard provisions included, but you need to get to and from the boat and have money for meals and drinks ashore. He is also willing to pay $500 per person towards their travel/expenses to help him get a good response from qualified OPO members. I did speak with him recently and he seems like a good guy. If interested please-mail your sailing resume and contact information to XXXXX@XXXX
