Message Board: Sailing Opportunities

Non-OPO members are welcome to view our message board. You will notice that we do not post contact information. If you think you are or would have been interested in sailing aboard one of the offshore passage opportunities than it is a good indication that you should join OPO. Once you become a member you do not need to come back to the message board as the opportunities will be e-mailed to you as they come up.

In seconds you can become an OPO member like so many other pleased captains and crew.

3/15/2022 from Panama to Marquesas Island on a Hinckley 51

OPO e-mail # 21-70 We met up again with owner and skipper OPOOPO at the Newport Boat Show. He has a very nice1989 Hinckley 51 named “Vivaldi” that has maintained and sailed since new. He has gotten few OPO members to sail with him with repeat experiences. He lives in the Boston Area and he’s planning an around the world navigation. It’s a big enterprise to tackle all at once so he’s looking to increase his crew candidates for sailing options in the Caribbean, Pacific and so on. The ideal candidate is someone (or a couple) that can sustain an open conversation about anything without getting offended, that are neat, respectful and with offshore sailing experience, in that order. His process is to meet via zoom, then have lunch/dinner, then sail in the Caribbean for few days. By then, you should know each other pretty well. Vivaldi has sailed almost 40,000 miles with OPOOPO s a skipper. It’s a heavy comfortable boat with all up to date B and G Electronics, EPIRB, AIS, LifeRaft inspected, and she was surveyed for the re-insurance in May 2021 including rigging. It has done seven Marion to Bermuda Races, one Newport to Bermuda race, she has done the Atlantic Circuit twice (Marion - Azores - Portugal - Canaries - Caribbean - Bahamas -Marion), and sailed to the Caribbean back and forth twice. A couple of times to Nova Scotia and numerous summers in Maine. When lay up in Marion, MA, Vivaldi has been cared by a professional yard. As usual the passage is free but you need to get to and from the boat and have money form meals and drinks ashore. If interested, please send your sailing resume and contact information to  XXXXX@XXXX .
