Message Board: Sailing Opportunities

Non-OPO members are welcome to view our message board. You will notice that we do not post contact information. If you think you are or would have been interested in sailing aboard one of the offshore passage opportunities than it is a good indication that you should join OPO. Once you become a member you do not need to come back to the message board as the opportunities will be e-mailed to you as they come up.

In seconds you can become an OPO member like so many other pleased captains and crew.

10/30/2021 from Newport to Bermuda to USVI on a Newport

OPO e-mail # 21-64 OPOOPO participant OPOOPO is looking for one or two crew to join him for his sail south in our rally. He has done the rally with us several times over the last few years. He has a very strong sea-worthy Vagabond 47 Ketch built by OPOOPO names Penrose that he has owned for many years. She is an oldie by goodie he knows her very well. He has lots of offshore sea miles and his son is an old friend who is a mega yacht full time skipper. He keeps the boat in Maine so you will most likely plan to sail down from Maine as a trial run to get you acclimated to the boat. So you will join the boat a few days before October 30th. He  knows how we organize our rally and will be in Newport for the start. After the stop in Bermuda his final destination is St. Johns in the USVI. He needs to be home by Thanksgiving. If crew have time he leaves the option open to sail to St. Maarten after Bermuda and then make the last 100 miles downwind to passage to St. John in the USVI well before Thanksgiving. The trip is free with all onboard expenses included. You need to have money for drinks and meals ashore outside the rally socials. For crew with offshore experience and skills to be a good crew and help with the running the boat he will pay travel to and from the boat within reason. He has also offered to pay the $100 per person rally fee and any covid test in Bermuda or St. Maarten. If you are interested please e-mail him with your sailing resume to XXXXX@XXXX
