Message Board: Sailing Opportunities

Non-OPO members are welcome to view our message board. You will notice that we do not post contact information. If you think you are or would have been interested in sailing aboard one of the offshore passage opportunities than it is a good indication that you should join OPO. Once you become a member you do not need to come back to the message board as the opportunities will be e-mailed to you as they come up.

In seconds you can become an OPO member like so many other pleased captains and crew.

1/31/2021 from Fort Pierce, Florida to Beaufort, NC on a Ketch

OPO e-mail # 20-77 Boat owner and skipper OPOOPO is looking for 1-3 experienced crew to help sail his 1989 Sparkman and OPOOPO 48' cutter ketch from Florida closer to his home on the Chesapeake. You will see the boat is well equipped and maintained as evidenced by the purchase survey done this October. (Ilia can send it to you as I had trouble attaching it to this e-mail.) I have spoken with Ilia a couple of times and he seems like a very nice man. He was referred by a reputable yacht broker in Annapolis who sold him the boat. He bought the boat in Florida but wants to have it closer to home so he can visit her this winter. Ilia adds in his own words: “I am planning to depart from OPOOPO Florida on 31 January or 01 February to make a straight run to Beaufort, NC. Alternative ports will be Charleston, SC or Southport, NC. The boat is getting new mainsail and mizzen sail from OPOOPO in Stuart, FL in early January. Genoa and staysail are getting reworked by them at the same time. All mechanical and maintenance items noted in the survey will be addressed by that time as well. I am a retired U OPOOPO officer with years of experience in larger ships and several years of experience skippering 44' offshore sailboats at the OPOOPO I am looking for 1-3 experienced crew members to do this trip.” The passage is free with all onboard expenses included but you need to get to and from the boat. If interested please send your sailing resume and contact information to him at XXXXX@XXXX
