Message Board: Sailing Opportunities

Non-OPO members are welcome to view our message board. You will notice that we do not post contact information. If you think you are or would have been interested in sailing aboard one of the offshore passage opportunities than it is a good indication that you should join OPO. Once you become a member you do not need to come back to the message board as the opportunities will be e-mailed to you as they come up.

In seconds you can become an OPO member like so many other pleased captains and crew.

Given the world-wide health concerns of COVID-19, we have suspended the issuance of crew requests. However, we can match members who are ready and able to travel. And we are still accepting crew requests from boat owners. Please contact us with any questions.

11/15/2020 from Norfolk VA, Chesapeake Bay to St. Thomas, USVI on a Boat

OPO e-mail # 20-63 New boat owner and budding skipper, OPOOPO bought a 1978 OPOOPO 34 that he is planning to sail from the OPOOPO to the USVI this fall. He e-mailed yesterday and I spoke with him today. I usually would not send out a crew request like this, but I did speak with Steve today and this might work for an OPO member(s) who has OPOOPO experience and can co-skipper and help get the boat to the Caribbean. Steve will pay your transportation to and from the boat (within reason) as well as all boat expenses. He is looking for one crew or a couple (or two friends) since it is a small boat. OPOOPO Cross is a full keel well-built offshore boat. He bought her from an owner who had her well-equipped. Steve has 30 years messing around on power boats on the lake as well as two years lake sailing and has spent some time with the boat this summer. (He lives in OK.) He plans to return to the boat early November to finish provisioning and meeting crew and depart about Mid-Nov. Expect to have around three weeks to get ready, wait for weather, make the passage and enjoy a few days in the Caribbean. Best to have some time and no schedule. If interested please send your sailing resume to Steve at XXXXX@XXXX
