Message Board: Sailing Opportunities

Non-OPO members are welcome to view our message board. You will notice that we do not post contact information. If you think you are or would have been interested in sailing aboard one of the offshore passage opportunities than it is a good indication that you should join OPO. Once you become a member you do not need to come back to the message board as the opportunities will be e-mailed to you as they come up.

In seconds you can become an OPO member like so many other pleased captains and crew.

Given the world-wide health concerns of COVID-19, we have suspended the issuance of crew requests. However, we can match members who are ready and able to travel. And we are still accepting crew requests from boat owners. Please contact us with any questions.

6/28/2020 from Bermuda to Padanaram MA on a Newport

OPO e-mail # 20-02 Boat owner and skipper OPOOPO has entered the 2020 Newport Bermuda Race and is looking for two or more crew for the rerun passage. The boat is a 2004 Beneteau first 40.7 named “Bamboozler”. OPOOPO sailed with me many years ago from Huntington to the Annapolis Boat Show. He has since gotten a lot of experience and obviously now has his own boat. The sail will take about 4 to 5 days so figure you will need a week with travel to and from the boat. Of course the boat will have all the safety equipment required for the race. He e-mails: “We are racing our Beneteau First 40.7, Bamboozler, in the 2020 Newport Bermuda race. We are looking for crew to help with the return passage from Bermuda to Massachusetts after the race, departing approximately June 28, 2020 (weather permitting). We are fully crewed for the race itself, but only have a couple semi-qualified sailors for the return. I will be on board, and I have a fair amount of experience (7 Bermuda’s, a Fastnet, a Sydney Hobart, 3 Marblehead Halifax, etc), but would feel better with at least 2 additional qualified crew on board for this return passage.” The trip is free with all onboard expenses included, but you need to get to and from the boat and have money for shore side drinks and meals. If interested please send your sailing resume to OPOOPO XXXXX@XXXX . There are pictures of the boat on Facebook page Bamboozler Racing.
