11/13/2019 from Newport to Maarten on a Swan

OPO e-mail # 19-87 Newport to St. Maarten - Pro skipper J OPOOPO is looking for experienced crew to help sail south this year. JC did a fine job of describing his situation and plan that I am simply copying what he sent to me this morning. The trip is free with all onboard expenses included but you need to get to and from the boat and have money for shore side meals and drinks. He requires crew who have offshore experience. He is the full time skipper of this boat and I have known him for many years. He is a very nice guy. The boat is a 2001 Swan 56, a well equipped ocean going cruising/racer with all safety gear and comforts. We plan to sail from Newport RI to OPOOPO OPOOPO around November 13, arriving Nov 27, weather permitting. We will stop in Bermuda for rest, fuel, weather updates, food etc. Approx. 4 days to Bermuda and approx. 5 days to OPOOPO Crew should plan at least 14 days trip. We will sail safely at all time if we can, or motor if we can’t. The crew can stay a couple days before departure and after arrival. Each crew will get a private cabin fwd with 2 bunks each, and a shared head. All onboard expenses are covered (food, entry fees, immigration, fuel, dockage, life jackets, bedding, towels etc). Any onshore expenses and transportation to/from the boat are the crew’s responsibility. Preference will be given to crew with some offshore experience, capable of standing solo watch, nonsmoker, no special diets, easy going, respectful, not sea sick, no drinking (while underway), no drugs (of any kind), help with all aspects of running the boat (trimming, sail change, cooking, provisioning, cleaning, watch standing, repairs etc). I have a 200t license and sailed approx. 40,000 NM, crossed the Atlantic 2x, crossed the equator/ITCZ, sailed in the S40 latitudes. I have been on this Swan for 3.5 years and done the Newport-SXM trip 7 times (once with the NARC). My mate has a 200t license and this is his 3rd delivery from Newport-SXM with me. I am looking for 1, possibly 2 more crew to complete the team. Please send your resume to XXXXX@XXXX if interested.
