Message Board: Sailing Opportunities

Non-OPO members are welcome to view our message board. You will notice that we do not post contact information. If you think you are or would have been interested in sailing aboard one of the offshore passage opportunities than it is a good indication that you should join OPO. Once you become a member you do not need to come back to the message board as the opportunities will be e-mailed to you as they come up.

In seconds you can become an OPO member like so many other pleased captains and crew.

11/10/2019 from Huntington NY to St. Maarten on a Amel 53

OPO e-mail # 19-75 Boat owner and very experienced skipper OPOOPO is looking for one more crew to complete his total crew of 5 for his annual passage south. Eric has a very well equipped and maintained Amel 53 that he has owned since new and sailed over from France. He has made the trip between NY and the Caribbean many times on this boat. Most of his crew are repeat OPO members who he has met over the years. He plans to make the trip without stopping. He is leaving a few days later than normal because his son is getting married on the 9th. The trip will take about 9 or 10 days of sailing but you want to allow time for any weather delay and a day to clean up on the other end so figure 12 to 13 days without any major weather delay for departure. Since this is a crew of 5 and the boat is set up for easy sailing Eric is fine taking someone with a little less experience, but he wants to make sure that he has a nice person who can follow rules. Eric would rather have a pleasant person than a know-it-all. OPOOPO is a very comfortable boat and they eat well. Like most of us he also runs a dry boat at sea. The trip is free with all onboard and boat expenses included, but you need to get to and from the boat. If interested please e-mail Eric with a sailing resume to XXXXX@XXXX
