10/10/2024 from Washington NY to Beaufort NC on a 48' Camper Nicholson Ketch
OPO Crew Request # 24-108 Port Washington NY to Beaufort NC - Boat owner, OPO members and skipper XXXXXX is looking for one or two crew two join him for this passage from Long Island Sound to Beaufort NC. He had a crew lined up but plans changed, thus the latish crew request. I have sailed with him in our Swan Program. Nice guy. He has been cruising full time for the last few months and enjoying his boat with other OPO members he has met over the last few years. He has a 1975 Camper Nicholson named XXXXXX. His ultimate destination is St. Augustine Florida by the end of November with tentative plans to depart Wilmington NC at the end of October. He e-mails: She is a 48ft Camper Nicholson’s Ketch equipped with in-mast sails, AIS, Radar, EPIRB, and Life-raft. She is a 1975 enclosed center cockpit vessel which had a complete refit in 2001 and all standing rigging replaced in 2022. I have just recently completed a 3-month cruise from Baltimore to Maine and am now back in Port Washington NY in Manhasset Bay. For this trip, my initial plan is to leave Manhasset Bay, transit the East River of NY, and go outside in the Atlantic to Beaufort. Options along the way will be to divert into Delaware bay and go around to Norfolk VA to ICW or go in at Chesapeake Bay and access ICW at Norfolk due to weather. I request OPO crew be physically able to work on deck and are familiar with monohulls, have offshore experience, and are experienced standing a solo night watch. If the weather is bad and he decides the go the inside route it may take a few days longer than sailing outside which would be a lot less time. You will know a day or two before departure which way with you can get a five-day forecast. The passage is free with all onboard food and boat expenses included, but you end to get to and from the boat and have money for shoreside meals and drinks. 11/20/2024 from Trinadad to Caribbean on a Amel 54
OPO Crew Request # 24-98 Boat owner and skipper XXXXXX has a very well equipped Amel 54 that he has owned and cruised extensively since 2017. He is looking for a pleasant crew to join him for a Caribbean sailing season. He found out about us on the Amel owners chat web site as we have a very good reputation for getting good crew. While this is not a delivery from Point A to Point B we know we have some OPO members who are looking for longer term cruising options with a nice owner with a nice boat as long as they can also be pleasant and get along for a long time. He sent us the following explain the crewing opportunity that he has posted on other web site. Looking for crew to join the boat in TRINIDAD and then leisurely cruise around the CARIBBEAN (possibly) buddy boating with another (YouTube Channel) AMEL to ultimately end up again in TRINIDAD or CURACAO to haul out for the 2025 hurricane season; have no specific plans as we are not bound by schedules and obligations. Would like somebody on board who understands and enjoys the cruising lifestyle; not getting seasick; realizes and appreciates we are cruising NOT racing nor delivering a boat - we are not constantly adjusting and trimming sails to get better/maximum performance out of the boat. Somebody capable holding their own opinion w/o being argumentative; being able to have a good discussion etc. I am not really good at meaningless small talk; prefer an "intimate" silence while reading a book (I read a lot on my Kindle) etc. over just senseless blabbing. Hahahahaha - maybe not nice to say but straight forward to avoid misunderstandings. That said, it is extremely important to me to be able to laugh and have fun while doing this cruising; the main objective is to have a good time. Somebody able and willing to participate in every aspect of cruising: watches, provisioning, navigation, cleaning etc. Sharing good experiences on board is as important to me as good sailing, diving, snorkeling, kayaking, the stars above at night, the smell of the ocean, and the sound of the wind and the waves. AMEL 54 is a very safe and comfortable boat specifically designed for blue water sailing by a small crew of any age. Under normal conditions (trade winds etc.) there is very little to be done once she is on course and the sails are set; virtually everything is (electrically) controlled from the center cockpit. In reality: open water/ocean sailing is very easy (almost boring) as long as you keep monitoring the surroundings, weather, navigation, the boat (instruments) etc. The interesting and challenging part is charting, plotting arrival, departures and tides , mooring/anchoring etc. I have 3 main principles on the boat: #1 - SAFETY; #2 - Comfortable; comfort takes priority over speed and #3: MUST have people on board with a good sense of humor and able to laugh. The boat is in perfect condition, completely insurance surveyed Jan 2022 ; running and standing rigging etc new Q4 2022 and now being serviced on the hard in PORT OF SPAIN. I am semi-retired Dutch citizen residing in USA; since 2017 cruising the SOUTH PACIFIC - now (since May 2024) cruising the CARIBBEAN. Boat currently on the hard in TRINIDAD until the end of the 2024 hurricane season; eat mostly fish and vegetables but do, from time to time, eat meat - have no problem with crew eating meat. My plan is to have NO plan other than enjoy cruising the boat for a couple of months, then travel back to USA/EUROPE for a month or so and then back to the boat etc. etc. I am not a diehard fanatic sailor; when I am enjoying my life in USA/MEXICO/EUROPE I don't miss the boat but when I am on the boat, I don't miss my life on land. The passage is free but you will want to have a discussion about helping pay for provisions. As you when helping a boat owner make a passage, they pay for everything. In this case the owner does not want to adopt you for three months so it is reasonable to have a talk about chipping in to help. Plan on having your own money for meals and drinks and excursions ashore. If interested please send your sailing resume to him at XXXXX@XXXX

5/5/2024 from Tortola, BVI to Grand Bahama/Florida on a Amel 46
OPO Crew Request # 24-42 Tortola, BVI to Grand Bahama/Florida - Boat owner and skipper XXXXXX has a 1988 Amel Maramu 46 ft named “Rainbow II” that he is sailing from the Tortola BVI to the Bahamas. This is a down wind “right direction” passage. He has owned the boat for 6 years and has made about 25 passages. He has one other experienced crew so is looking for one more sailor who can stand a solo watch, but does not have to have sea tons of miles, just pleasant and can get along. The crew would have the forward cabin. He adds: Has new autopilot, Hydrovane, new water-maker, new offshore life raft Since it is short notice XXXXXX is willing to help with travel expenses within reason for the right person. The passage is free with boat expenses included, but you should have money for meals and drinks ashore. Since this is not a “forced march” delivery, but a more leisurely passage taking your time, you can also feel some obligation to maybe offer to chip in for food. (My opinion). Please do send your sailing resume to XXXXXX with your telephone number so you can talk on the phone and work out the details. XXXXX@XXXX

They had a crew but he just dropped out due to health reason. They recently bought a 6. They have hired a skipper/captain named XXXXXX who runs Schooner Mary Day www.UUUUU.com He is very laid back about the crew and has been very open to us bringing folks. He is genuinely looking forward to sharing this experience with us. Here is the kicker. They also have 4 children sailing with them. She e-mails: The kids are 8, 13, 15, and 16. My 16 year-old just graduated high school and is headed to college in the Fall. We've done bareboat charters with the kids since they were toddlers. We sailed with a captain in 2006 and 2011 (where we did our ASA 101, 103, and 104), and then began bareboating on 45-foot catamarans. We've done USVI, Spanish VI, BVI, we went from St. Vincent and the Grenadines to Grenada, we did the Bahamas Exumas. My oldest three kids are certified divers, I'm a diving instructor. 8/19/2024 from St. Thomas to St. Augustine FL on a Jeanneau 50
OPO Crew Request # 24-84 Boat owner and skipper XXXXXX is looking for one or two crew for a total of 4 for this downwind passage from the USVI to Florida. The boat is a 2011 Jeanneau 50 DS named XXXXXX. He is a veteran of our Swan Program and has gotten crew from us before. He had crew lined up but the two crew that live in Florida have put him on notice that they may cancel in the next day or two because of impending weather forecast to make possible landfall there. He has a web site www.UUUUUU.com. Since He knows us and how we work he does a good job of telling potential crew what the situation is and more about the boat and his sailing backround. He includes: We have two potential openings for crew members needed for a sailing trip from the Virgin Islands to Saint Augustine next week. After this current tropical development passes over the Virgin Islands by the end of this week, we are planning to sail my boat, Summerwind, from St. Thomas to St Augustine which is her home port. We’ve had a crew of four planned to make the voyage, but two of the crewmembers live in Saint Augustine and have expressed concerns that if a full hurricane develops and heads to St Augustine, they obviously would rather be there to protect their homes and families. As a result, we may have an opening for two crewmembers to join the sail from Saint Thomas to St. Augustine leaving next week. The estimated time is 8 to 10 days sailing with the total crew of four. Each person would have their own cabin or sleeping area. We will provision the boat and NO expenses would be required by crewmembers except for your flights to St. Thomas, USVI/St. Augustine or any special food you would like to bring aboard or the cost of personal meals purchased in restaurants if we happen to make a stop which would not be the plan. If the crew would like to spend a few days in the Virgin Islands before heading to Saint Augustine, any land-based food cost in restaurants would be at your own expense. There would be no compensation for the trip except for the sea time gained and the experience sailing on a yacht through the Caribbean. So, if you are interested in Sailing on a lovely Jeanneau 50 DS from the Virgin Islands to St Augustine, please message me or call me directly at 404-229-0507. My Facebook page has many photographs of the boat and the sailing we’ve done for the last seven months here in the Virgin Islands. You could also view our webpage at USVIsail.com for additional information. For safety, we carry two, 8-man Winslow life rafts which are all up-to-date, two new Garmin chartplotters, including AIS and radar, auto-pilot, two EPIRBS beacon location finders, Starlink with data hub, 1000 amps of solar power, 1000 amps of new lithium batteries as well as a water maker and a portable Cummins/Onan 4100i generator. We also utilize Jack-lines and Mustang auto inflate lifejackets with harnesses. Summer Wind is a Jeanneau sloop that was purchased near Newport, Rhode Island and sailed to Saint Augustine three years ago. My son and I have spent the last seven months here in the Virgin Islands doing sailing charters and we are just finishing the 2024 Sea Base Boy Scout sailing program. For perspective, some of my sailing highlights include- I have crossed the Atlantic with the 2014 ARC, I’ve sailed to Tahiti twice, once from San Diego and once from Auckland, New Zealand. I’ve sailed from Maine to Miami, New York to Bermuda, Southampton, England to Majorca in the Mediterranean and dozens of other sailing adventures. I look forward to hearing from anyone who might be interested in getting some extra sea time logged and doing a nice sail to St. Augustine from the Virgin Islands. Regards, XXXXXX He knows it is a busy time of year and it might be hard to get away. For the right person he can offer a small travel stipend to help crew join him for the passage. If interested please e-mail him at XXXXXX.XXX with your sailing resume and contact information.

6/5/2024 from Puerto Rico to Abacos, Bahamas on a Jeanneau 46
OPO Crew Request # 24-48 XXXXXX is looking for one experienced crew member and one less experienced to join him aboard his Jeanneau 46, XXXXXX on a trip from Puerto Rico to the Abacos, Bahamas. He would like crew to arrive on or about June 5th for this 800 mile trip. He expects crew to plan on 12 days away. The boat is equipped for cruising. 5/2/2024 from Puerto Rico to New York on a Swan 53
OPO Crew Request # 24-38 Pro skipper XXXXXX is looking for one more crew for a total of four crew for this short notice passage on a 2013 Swan 53. He has two experienced crew and a would like an OPO member to join as the fourth crew. He has gotten crew from us in the past. He is a very nice guy and has been delivery boats for several years now. We have always gotten good feedback about sailing with him. He e-mails today: I am flying down on April 29, and it would be great if prospective crew could fly down that day. The more hands helping with prep the better. There is a slight hitch with this boat, though. She’s been on the hard for three years, and right now none of the electronics work. The owners - who are the original owners and have plenty of ocean sailing experience and know what it takes to go offshore - are down there now prepping the boat and trying to deal with the electronics issue. If everything isn’t working properly by the time we get there, we may change plans and island hop up the Dominican Republic and Bahamas and leave the boat in Florida, brining plenty of back up and redundant navigational tools (battery powered GPS, paper charts, tablets and phones with Navionics, etc). And of course, if I’m not comfortable with the condition of the boat, I won’t hesitate to pull the plug entirely. So, while I would never leave with a boat that wasn’t safe, prospective crew should know this one might be a little more of an “adventure” that the typical delivery. If I am comfortable going offshore, we’ll do the typical route of heading towards Bermuda, and if the weather still looks good within a day of Bermuda, we’ll skip that stop and head straight for New York. Regardless which route we take, expect at least a 14-day commitment. Crew should be comfortable standing a solo night watch, and hand steering in case the autopilot craps out. Travel and food expenses are covered by owners. The passage is free with all onboard expenses included, but you need to get to and from the boat and have money for meals and drinks ashore. If interested please send your sailing resume to him at XXXXX@XXXX

10/30/2024 from Oxford MD to Totola BVI on a Oyster 655
OPO Crew Request # 24-109 Boat owner and skipper XXXXXX is looking for one more experienced crew for a total of 4 crew to sail his Oyster 655 named XXXXXX. He has gotten crew from us before and it worked out well. Since he has gotten crew from us before he does a good job of explaining this passage opportunity to sail with him. He is a very accomplished sailor and we know the boat is in great shape. It is a big fast boat and can make the passage in as little as seven days after waiting for the right weather window, but you should plan at least 10 days. More if there is a storm preventing departure. He e-mails: This Fall, Weatherly will depart Oxford, MD for Tortola, BVI on or about October 30th. It's about a day long trip going down the Chesapeake Bay, so depending on how much fuel we use, we may stop in Cape Charles, VA for fuel. This is also a good place to wait out any adverse weather, that may affect the first few days of our trip, because it is very close to the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay. Everything is weather dependent for a trip of this nature. Once we head offshore, it’s typically a seven-day trip to the BVI. For planning purposes and flight reservations, allow 10 days. If we get there early, you’ll have an opportunity to enjoy some of the highlights of Tortola, which as some of you know, includes a visit to Nigel’s beach bar. It’s like nothing you’ve ever seen before. Weatherly is equipped with the latest in electronics for communications and weather. We also have a website that shows our current position and real-time weather, which is useful for interested parties back home. https://www.UUUUU.com New this summer is Starlink. This gives us very fast satellite internet anywhere in the ocean. It also allows us to use our cell phones for WiFi calling, email, and texting. It’s like you never left home. The passage is free with all onboard expenses included, but you need to get to and from the boat and have money for shoreside meals and drinks. If interested please send your sailing resume to him at XXXXX@XXXX

6/15/2024 from Nuku Hiva French Polynesia to Tahiti on a Vancouver 27
OPO Crew Request # 24-63 Boat owner and skipper XXXXXX is looking for one adventurous crew to join him on a small, but sea worthy boat in French Polynesia. He has a 1980 Vancouver 27* named XXXXXX. We have sent out a crew request for him for earlier passages as he progresses west. We know that most members are not interested in sailing on a small boat so this is not for most members. But many people have completed long passages in small boats if they are well built boats and they are equipped and sailed well. He is one of those people sailing on a smaller boat. If you are interested you can send him your sailing resume and ask him to send you to his blog post and pictures so you can have more information to decide of you want to join him. The passage is free but you must get to and from the boat which is far away, plus have money for your own melas and rinks and stops along the way. Plan to offer to chip in for provisions. He will let you know what the terms are. If interested please send your sailing resume to him at XXXXXX@XXXXXX *Designed by Robert Harris for a couple to sail from Canada to New Zealand and back these boats have since circumnavigated the globe including a passage through the Magellan Straits (Read "Winter in Fireland" by Nick Coughlin) My boat had a perfect survey when I bought her in England just before covid. I've spent the past three years equipping her with the best of everything for ocean sailing with the exception of a Fridge, water maker or starlink. This is the second Vancouver 27 I have owned from the same builder (Pheon Yachts)

He has owned the boat for three years since new and has done several near costal passages. His plan is to stay near the coast and watch thee weather and take the ICW if need be. He is fine having crew join him for parts of the passage and you can start or leave along the way since it is hard to say how long the entire passage will take. If you are open ended and have the time you can make the entire passage knowing it might take as long as two weeks, but you can also join for the first leg to Norfolk and then stay as long as you can. Or you can join as he travels your way and you can jump aboard and finish a portion of the passage. He Adds: The boat is very comfortable and safe. She has 3 cabins and two full heads will shower stalls. I am looking for one or two crew members with at least some sailing experience. Extensive experience is not required. 6/14/2024 from Newport RI to Nantucket MA on a Oyster 46
OPO Crew Request # 24-64 Owner/skipper and OPO member XXXXXX is looking for one of two crew for this short passage from Newport to Nantucket next month. The boat is a very nice and well-equipped Oyster 46. I have sailed with XXXXXX several times before he bought his boat as he has been a member for many years. He is a very nice guy and very good sailor. I would sail with him anytime to anywhere. He has gotten crew from us before and it has always worked out well. He adds:
I have an easy one for OPO. My 2006 Oyster 46 is in Newport RI after her trip up from the Caribbean and needs to make a two-day cruise to Nantucket on the weekend of June 14 to 16. I need one (or could make it two) crew to assist me in making this usually very pleasant trip. We will be stopping for the night in Edgartown Saturday 15 June. Pretty nice trip really. Candidates would need to be in Newport on Friday the 14th. The Oyster 46 is well and fully equipped for this passage.
Candidates should have at least an offshore passage or two under their belt and can get to Newport and back from Nantucket. Flights are very affordable off Nantucket Island on Mondays and Tuesdays (less so Sundays) and candidates can stay on the boat for a day or two to get a good airfare home. Should be a great two/three-day trip for the right person.
The passage is free with all onboard expenses included, but you need to get to and from the boa and have money for any shoreside meals or drinks. If interested please send your sailing resume to him at XXXXX@XXXX

7/21/2024 from Jamestown RI to Azores, Portugal on a Cape Dory 36
OPO Crew Request # 24-76 Boat owner XXXXXX is looking for one more crew to join him for this three-week late season passage. The boat is a 1986 Cape Dory 36 Cutter named XXXXXX. He has been planning this passage for a couple of years and has been getting the boat ready. I spoke with him briefly yesterday. The crew he thought he had joining him seems to be backing out so he reached out to me for any good crew who would like to join him. He met me at the Newport Boat Show a couple years back. This is a little late in the season to be departing, but with long-range forecasting the passage should be safe. He plans to leave the boat in the Azores for the winter and then go back next season to cruise the islands. He can send you pictures of the boat and of course you should go meet him and see the boat at the Clark Shipyard in Jamestown right next to Jamestown Boat yard where Avocation is. He Adds: I have USCG Captain, with extensive offshore experience: Extensive refit 2024, new RAYMARINE electronics, radar, AIS, satellite, professionally installed by ABYC electrician, new sails, standing rigging and Hydrovane , 2 The passage is free with all onboard boat expenses and provision included, but you need to get to and from the boat and have money for shoreside meals and drinks. 10/27/2024 from Huntington NY to St. Maarten on a Amel 53
OPO Crew Request # 24-90 Boat owner and very experienced sailor XXXXXX is looking for one more crew for his annual passage south from NY to SXM. He has a very well equipped and maintained Amel 53 named XXXXXX that he has owned since new. He makes the passage back and forth each year and most of his crew are OPO member and repeat OPO crew. He runs a tight ship and the crew eat well. He is very safety conscious. I have known him for many years which is why I know the boat is in great shape. This is his 41st passage to or from the Caribbean. He likes to make the passage directly from Huntington to SXM and only stop in Bermuda if there is a good reason to stop. He would like all the crew aboard at least one day before departure. The passage is about 1600 miles and will take about 10 to 11 days, but allow time for a possible weather delay or stop in Bermuda. I may be in SXM when you arrive. We have two Swans departing from Newport to day before so we should be leaving on the same weather window. The passage is free with all onboard expenses included, but you need to get to and from the boat and have money for any meals and drinks ashore. He also insists crew stay one full day after arrival to help clean up the boat. If interested please e-mail him your sailing resume to XXXXX@XXXX

5/3/2024 from Hilton Head Island to New Haven CT on a Alden Cutter 51
OPO Crew# 24-41 Hilton Head Island to New Haven CT - Boat owner and skipper XXXXXX called yesterday after talking to a boat owner he met on the docks who told him about us. He bought a very solid 1980’s Alden 51 Cutter. He sailed it from CT to Hilton Head for the winter. He has her ready to sail north starting as early as May 3rd. He explains his situation very well but lacks details (Like last name). He sounds like a nice guy. Has a lot of miles from years ago when navigation was harder, but boats were simpler. He e-mails: Looking to find crew to help sail my Alden51’ cutter from Hilton Head island to New Haven Ct. Would like to leave before the 3rd of May. Weather permitting. Vessel is ready to go. If weather permits, we could take a straight shot. Beaufort NC would be my harbor to old up in if Hatteras doesn’t look good. Iam not pressing this trip for time. Decisions will be made with caution in mind. The boat is in excellent shape. New electronics, radar and self steering. 1800 hrs on a 100 hp yanmar. Sailed her south inDec. That was our shack down. Cleaned the fuel tanks and polished the fuel In the Chesapeake. My earlier career sailing I put 30,000 miles under the keel nautical hitchhiking . Getting back into sailing in early retirement having purchased Elena last July. This trip might take 5 days or 10 days. I am not pressed for time. The passage is free with all onboard expenses included, but you need to get to and from the boat and have money for any meals or drinks ashore if you stop along the way. If interested please send your resume and questions to him at XXXXX@XXXX

5/16/2024 from Hawaii to Japan on a Ingrid 38
FW: OPO Crew Request # 24-47 Boat Owner is XXXXXX writes: I am looking for one or two crew for a passage from Hawaii to Japan, ideally leaving as soon as possible, but no later than 2 or 3 weeks from now. My wife and I sailed our Ingrid 38 Ketch from Long Beach to here, arriving on April 11th, after a 22 day passage. The boat and crew performed brilliantly and we arrived with smiles to Hawaii (although we were a bit exhausted!) We left Oahu for Japan with a new crew member on April 22nd. Due to health concerns, it became clear on day 2 that he, 69 years old, should not continue to Japan. So, before it was too late, we made a very tough 10 hour upwind slog in 24knts and big seas to get to Kauai, where we are now. So if you or anyone you know may be qualified and willing to join, let me know! I suspect the passage will take between 35-40 days. Bellow is some brief info on the boat and my own experience sailing. Also, you can see our tracker here https://www.UUUUU.com... Our boat: The fiberglass hull and aluminum masts are from 1980 but all the interior systems (seacocks, tanks, Yanmar diesel, electrical and interior) are all new from 2008 and had almost never been used since install, although the yanmar was regularly maintained. We have 2 pilot berths and 1 sofa equiped with leecloths and USB chargers. We also have a v-berth that's quite big but generally used as food storage on passage. This year the boat we completed a refit and replacement of the following items: • new standing and running rigging • new cast bronze chainplates • new windless (tigress) • new monitor windvane • new pelagic autopilot • new dodger • sails (Brand new headsail, staysail, main and mizzen from North Sail +1 used asym .75oz Spinnaker and full set of spare previously used sails). • New harken IV Ocean furler • www.UUUUU.com; x 18ft whisker pole • New Techautics Cool Blue holding plate and compressor • reglassed the rudder • barrier coat and bottom paint My wife and I did the refit ourselves and installed all the systems mentioned above, so we know every inch of the boat. Our passage to Hawaii took 22 days, about 15 of which were 25knts or greater. The boat performed well and we averaged 150 miles per day during those days, with our best day at 170 miles. After the passage to Hawaii, I decided another reef in the main would be useful for more extreme situations, so I had the North Sails loft in Hawaii add one more reef (now 3 in total) to the main sail. For instruments, we mainly use Navionics on our phones or iPad, but we have a Garmin in-reach with maps installed as well as a MFD12 Furuno chart plotter / AIS / radar unit if needed. No electronic wind or depth instruments. For steering we rely mostly on the monitor wind vane, which has proved it worth as our fourth crew member on the passage to Hawaii, but also the Pelagic auto pilot was second and very robust backup, which we tested in 10 ft seas for 3 days in a row, of which it didn't skip a beat. The boat has 70 gallons of diesel (20 in jugs on dec) and 95 gallons of water (35 on deck) . On the passage to Hawaii we averaged .47 gallons of fuel per hour, which brings our total fuel range to about 140 hours, or just over 700 miles of range. The boat is also equipped with a Survivor 40E water maker. After 22 days at sea, we still had half of our first 25 gal tank remaining and all other tanks were full. Safety gear includes jacklines and cockpit tether, life sling, danbouy, two liferafts (one is 1 year old and the other is expired), hard dingy with all sailing equipment mounted inside, and a well equipped ditch bag. Including flares, food, water, two epirbs, radar reflector, first aid kid, medicine, antibiotics, compressed air horn and manual air horn. Communications with the outside world is possible through starlink, although for the passages we have an iridium and Garmin in-reach. Captain: I have experience sailing since I was a child, but more notable passages include Canary Islands to Cape Verde Africa 2022 (~1000nm) as crew on ICEBEAR, Tokyo to Beppu Japan in 2021 (~1000nm) as crew on a Columbia 43, California to Hawaii 2024 (~2400nm) as captain and Monterey, CA to Long Beach, CA 2022 (~350nm) as captain on our Ingrid 38, and many smaller passages to Channel Islands in California. Feel free to private message and / or comment here if you are interested! Also my temp cell phone here in Hawaii is XXX-XXX-XXXX Al the best. I don't keep email on my phone // If you need an immediate answer, text/call me on WhatsApp XXX-XXX-XXXX

10/31/2024 from Hampton, Virginia to Marsh Harbor, Abacos, Bahamas on a Island Packet
OPO Crew Request # 24-97 Boat owner and skipper XXXXXX and his wife moved aboard full time aboard their 2002 45-foot Island Packet named XXXXXX last June. The are looking for two crew or a couple to sail with them in the Salty Dawg Rally from the Chesapeake Bay to the Bahamas. They also have a small dog named Ziggy sailing with them. He has been a sailor for the past 24 years including a Transpac many years ago. Life got in the way and only last year have they been able to cut ties and plan life afloat. They hired a skipper for their passage north from Florida last year, but have been living aboard and getting comfortable with the boat. He would like at least one other crew with offshore experience to help make this passage to the Bahamas along with the small contingent of Salty Dawg boats planning to go to the Bahamas rather than Antigua. In fact for the right crew he is willing to help with a travel stipend to get home. He e-mails: 900 Amphrs of battery, solar, genset, watermaker, 160gal fuel, 250 gal water, fridge/freezer. Cutter rig with all roller furling sails. The crew includes my wife and our dog Ziggy. Becky also has Asa certification, US sailing safety at sea training and multiple charters. We owned a international folkboat for 15 years, and have done multiple international charters. For the right crew he will offer a travel stipend to get home based on experience. If interested please send your sailing resume to him at XXXXX@XXXX

11/10/2024 from Hampton, VA to St Maarten on a Privilege 50' Cat
OPO Crew Request # 24-71 Boat owner and skipper XXXXXX has a 2017 Privilege 50’ Catamaran named XXXXXX. He is looking for three crew to join him for an up-to two-week offshore passage. He lives in Austin, TX and keeps the cat near Annapolis, MD. His plan is to depart from the Salt Ponds Marina in Hampton, VA on or around November 1st (or the safest weather window to follow). I have met him in person, after his last two passages from the states to St Maarten. He and OPO members made the journey the last two years in 2022 (9 days) and 2023 (10 days). He wrote the following: “This is for a one-way passage. He would like three additional crew mates (with a safe sense of humor!) with long ocean passage experience for this fun and exciting “mission”. Insurance will ask if multi day passage experience and they prefer larger vessel and/or catamaran experience (although not required). He is a professional aviator with multiple jet type ratings, owner of an aviation management company (highly technical and runs a tight ship), flight instructor (loves to learn and teach) and has been a seaman since before he could walk. He is married (Loren) with two little girls (Sailor 8 and Landy 9) who will be meeting the crew in St Maarten! On this passage he will have himself (47) and three of you! He has owned and chartered numerous small and large monohulls and catamarans since a child and has lived aboard the cat, essentially single handed sailing, since he bought it in 2021. Currently he has roughly 13200 nautical miles sailed under his belt, having sailed 4200nm in the last year from Hampton to St Maarten and then down to Martinique and several months bouncing to most islands up the chain, on to the US East coast to land near Annapolis, MD in May. He may have some opportunities to meet he and the boat if you are in the Annapolis area throughout the summer months. He is looking for a set of experienced hands to share the camaraderie, experience, and good time, safely on a capable and stable sailing vessel. He is a Christian Conservative, of the relaxed variety, fun, young-minded, silly sense of humor (father of two little girls) and calm under pressure. The cat is a semi-custom true blue-water modern catamaran. She is very well equipped with all the latest tech to include StarLink, new North 3Di sails, and safety gear. Each crew member will have their own separate state rooms for rest during this journey. He will pay all onboard boat expenses: food, drink, wares, fuel and dockage etc. All you will need is to get to and from the boat, your on/off -vessel needs, and understand flexibility to meet weather window departure and planning. This a dry vessel underway, however after arrival, celebrations are encouraged! We will be sailing (and likely motoring) day and night so we will have four 3-hour shifts day and night.” If interested please e-mail a copy of your sailing CV and interest in joining him at XXXXXXX His web site is www.www.UUUUUU.com. Please note: He is quite busy with running his business and flying during the summer so please have patience with his response time.

He plans at least one stop in the ABC Islands. His ultimate destination for now is to transit the Panama Canal and sail to Subic Bay Philippines. I spoke with him last week and asked him to explain more about the boat and his overall plans. This is a crew request for the first leg, but also looking for the right kind of crew who may have more time and be interested in joining early to learn more about getting a boat ready, working at your pace along with him. He knows he will have some work to do to make sure the boat is ready. He is very handy and has been working on big ships as a career. He welcomes anyone who may wish to arrive early and a free place to stay in Grenada while helping get the boat ready. This would be a great way to get to know the boat and meet him, even if you plan on joining him months later for a leg from Panama across Pacific to his ultimate destination in the Philippines. Another option is to talk now while he is in the USA and plan to fly down a few day early and make the first passage to Panama after he has picked a date and confirmed the boat is ready. If all goes well on the first leg can send out updated crew requests for the 2nd leg and future legs as his journey progresses. He is still in the USA. I am XXXXXX male 62 years old in diesel, carpentry, building maintenance employment history. I’m at a veterans’ camp in Minnesota for the summer and the boat over the winter. Have a Hunter 21.6 there since Covid elected to just sail that. I’ve sailed extensively on Lake Superior passed all the monohull courses for many seasons. Through school and meeting other boat owners put me on a lot of verities of boats. I have elective not to do charter or delivery captain so no need for the license but my teach courses school asking and nice to give back now retired. I’m hearing December is when sailing gets going down in Grenada. AT was on the hard-most of last year for sale so it’s in the back of yard. I’m hearing 8th 15th of November the yard can put in. I am flying down the 12th of October to get accumulated to weather and preparing the boat. Hydro vane is showing up on 1st November. There is not a lot of dock space so mooring is the likely option. I would like to leave the third week in November of course weather window depending. I am open to if you want to bunk up there is a project of building water maker system and see Grenada get use to heat. There is no fee charged to you on my end. I have to have the room, stock the boat, fuel, food on the boat. You are an advantage to me than solo sailing would be. 20 years with large cruise ship in the Caribbean I have seen the pricing rocket up. This yard fee is 600 a month Philippine 150 450 5star place on the dock. My agendas are open if someone wants to help cover cost of Caribbean, Mediterranean. To me it’s a bad value same cost for chicken wings as USA and you are eating in a shack myself Panama Canal, Philippine, down to Australia sell boat in 10 years is the flexible agenda. I have been with many different people sailing and I always try to learn something from them and have fun that’s my goal on this trip with safety. The passage is free with all onboard boat expenses and onboard provisioning included. You need to get to and from the boat and have money for any shoreside meals and drinks and excursions. Of course if you arrive early, you will be working for free and buying some meals and drinks ashore while staying for free ashore or on the boat, the passage and onboard food and boat expenses are included once you depart unless you wish to chip in a bit for better onboard fare if you are going all the way to the Philippines. She has two EPIRBs, personal safety gear (including PLB), a life raft, dinghy, full medical kit, Garmin chartplotter/AIS/radar, Iridium, and Simrad autopilot. As for me, I have about seven years of sailing experience. I completed a 1200 mile offshore trip in the Spring 2023 with two others and did a bareboat charter in the BVIs in February 2024. Since then, we have been sailing Alma on the Chesapeake Bay. I enjoy all humor, but my friends tell me that I am an inefficient teller of stories and my timing in telling anything other than a dad joke is problematic. As for crew, I would like to find one or two experienced crewmembers who are able to stand solo watch at night (my intention would be to have 3 hour watches). They would join myself and possibly one other experienced crewmember/friend. Crewmembers would be expected to wear PFDs and tethers at night. The passage is free with all onboard boat expenses paid for but you need to get to and from the boat and have money for any meals ashore. If interested please send your sailing resume to him at XXXXXX@XXXXXX Leg # 1 - 9 September 2024 (Another 5 days?) Nantucket to Deale, MD, departing Nantucket on September 9 - He will be making the return passage in September. We may send put a 2nd crew request when the dates get closer, but if you can make the return passage, by all means please e-mail him as well.

6/18/2024 from Ft Lauderdale FL to Annapolis MD on a Aura 51
OPO Crew Request # 24-70 New boat owner and skipper XXXXXX is looking for one more experienced crew for a total of 4 crew to help sail his new almost new 2023 Aura 51 named “XXXXXX” north. The boat is new to him but it is very well equipped and seaworthy since she sailed across in the ARC past fall and passed their safety inspection. She is currently in a yard in Ft. Lauderdale where they are doing a couple of odd jobs to have her ready for the passage. He explains abut himself and the other crew: “Myself, I'm 50 years old, been sailing since 7 years old, raced in college, lived on a boat with my family for a year, cruised England to RI through the Caribbean, have owned and cruised my whole life. My 18 year old son has 10,000 offshore miles, he stood watch 6 hours a day alone, and is mechanically capable. The 3rd crew has offshore experience, has been sailing a few years.” I just got the crew request this morning so I called him. He sounds like a very nice guy and I think this is a very good opportunity to join a crew on a nice boat. He understands that since it is short notice and he would prefer to sail with 4 crew rather than the three he has, he is willing to offer a travel stipend for the right crew with offshore experience to join them. Of course all onboard food and boat expenses are covered. If interested please send your sailing resume to him at XXXXX@XXXX

5/7/2024 from Freeport TX to Key West Florida on a Hunter 37
OPO Crew Request # 24-37 Boat owner and skipper XXXXXX is looking for one or two crew to join him for this passage from Freeport TX to Key West. He has a 1979 Rebuilt Hunter 37 Cherubini named XXXXXX. he is a professional delivery skipper and has been on boats a good part of his life. This is his own boat that is his retirement boat that he has owned for six years. He has over 75,000 miles and has owned and lived aboard several boats over the years. He is getting a little work done in Freeport and should be ready to leave in about two weeks. This is an older Hunter, one of the well build Hunters. Not the plastic coastal cruisers that they later turned out. I spoke with him and he sounds like a very nice guy and knows what he is doing. He is willing to take a less experienced crew as long as “they can tie a bowline” he e-mails. It is more important that you are a nice crew and can get along than how much you know since he has his master mariner ticket. The passage is free with all onboard boat expenses covered, but you need to get to and from the boat and have money for meals ashore. Make sure you are going in with eyes wide open and do not expect a perfect boat. I am sure it will be an adventure with a knowledgeable able captain to learn from. If interested please send your sailing resume to him at XXXXX@XXXX

8/10/2024 from East Hamton NY to MA on a Formosa 41
OPO Crew Request # 24-57 Boat owner and skipper XXXXXX is looking for one or two crew to join him for a two-week leisurely summer cruise starting in the Hamptons on the east end of XXXXXX NY and sailing east to Nantucket MA and Chatham. He owns a 1972 Formosa 41 named XXXXXX Arthur got crew from us last year for a similar cruise and it went well. He wants crew who are physically in good shape and willing to learn and enjoy the cruise with him. Non-smokers only. He Adds;
This sweet senior lady is in excellent condition. It has been across the pond and to the onion patch three times.
Normally the owner pays for all boat expenses and crew pay to get to and from the boat and sail for free. The other crew is a racing friend and he has owned the boat since new and has made the passage back and forth more than ten times. He can pick up you up in Orlando and take you to the boat in Daytona and will transport you to Newark International Airport from Atlantic Highlands NJ when you get in. 10/17/2024 from Cotuit on Cape Cod MA to Fort Pierce FL on a Catana 42
OPO Crew Request # 24-99 Boat owner and skipper XXXXXX is looking for two crew for his 9th annual passage south to Florida. The boat is a Catana 42 S Catamaran. He had crew signed up, but one had to have some surgery. We have gotten crew for him before and it worked out well. He is looking for crew again for the same trip. He is a nice guy. He has an impressive sailing resume of his own. His usual route is to go down LI Sound through NY City, down the Jersey Shore to Norfolk and then take the ICW to Cape Faer and then offshore to Ft. Peirce. No rush and plans to play the weather so you want to make sure you have time. He adds: I have a Catana 42 S sailing catamaran that I plan to take to Florida starting about 17th October. Crew should arrive the day before. I have done the trip south three times before, in 2014 and 2016, and 2017 and 2021 (we missed last year) always going via Long Island sound, and down the Jersey coast. Once up Delaware Bay and down the Chesapeake, and once along the MD coast to Norfolk in the ocean. Then plan to go through the ICW from Norfolk to Moorehead city or Cape fear, with some ocean passages near shore from there to Fort Pierce. The trip is expected to take a bit over 2 weeks. I would like to have a total of 4 crew though I have done segments alone on past trips. The boat is a 1991 Crowther design and I have replaced both engines with new ones in 2014 and the boat had new North Sails in the last year. The boat has had a coat of Awlgrip so looks sharper than before. North Sails finally remeasured the boat for the genoa and admitted the earlier sail was made to the wrong trimming dimensions, so they fixed the second sail they made, a 3Di sail they replaced my original purchase with. I am my seventies and have been sailing for about 67 years, mostly in New England to Canada, have raced to Havana on another boat, a member since 1990, was captain of the MIT sailing team. Commodore of the Blue Water Sailing Club in 2010. The passage is free with all boat expenses and onboard food included, but you need to get to and from the boat and have money for meals and drinks ashore. If interested please send your sailing resume to him at XXXXX@XXXX

10/2/2024 from Cold Spring Harbor NY to Brooklyn Maine on a Lecomte Yawl 38
OPO Crew request # 24-105 XXXXXX is looking for two crew who want to join me for this passage on a classic1970 vintage 38 foot Lecomte yawl. It is an old boat but I took a look at her this past weekend and she is good to go. She has a dodger and autopilot and chart plotter. The plan is to leave about 9 am on Wednesday and make it to the Cape Cod Canal in daylight on day two to top off fuel for the next 24-hour leg to the Atlantic Boat Yard in Maine. We should get in before dark on Friday and get a rental car to be home on Saturday. I have made this passage many tokes before. We want to leave with anything but a strong easterly so we will check the weather a couple of days before and confirm all is good. The passage is free with all boat expenses and onboard food paid for plus the ride back to where we started in the rental car. This passage covers a lot of good territory if you are looking to gain sea miles towards being a delivery skipper in New England the area. If interested please let me know and we can refine the plan and make sure we are all set.

9/9/2024 from City Island NYC to Oriental NC on a Grampian 30
OPO Crew Request # 24-89 City Island NYC to Oriental NC - Boat owner and skipper XXXXXX is looking for one more crew or a couple who wish to join him for his sail south early next month. I just got off the phone with him. He is a full time live-aboard. He has owned the boat for three years and recently retired and now has the time to go sailing. He is a navy veteran and spent time aboard the Midway. He bought a slip in Oriental NC and is planning to bring the boat there next month. In January he is joining the Salty Dawg new Rally from Florida to the Bahamas. The boat is a 1972 Grampian 30 named XXXXXX. While an older boat and smaller than many members may be looking to sail aboard, the Grampian is a strong well build boat. He has sailed offshore on several passages as crew. He has circumnavigated Long Island on this boat. He is looking for crew that can stand a solo watch and enjoy the passage south. He adds: New sails, complete B and G electronic package including radar, forward scanning sonar, AIS transceiver, and wind, depth, etc. The plan is to depart with a good weather window about 10th of September and sail outside when weather looks favorable. The ICW is always a good option if the wind is from the south. He has done both. The inside passage from Norfolk to Oriental is only about 3 days, 4 tops. The entire passage may take as little as 10 days, but you want to have a little extra time built in just in case. The passage is free with all onboard expenses included, but you end to get to and from the boat and have money for any meals and drinks ashore. He says crew are welcome to spend a little time upon arrival. As mentioned, he will make another passage to Florida later in the season and then join the Rally across to the Bahamas. 5/10/2024 from Caribbean to Newport on a Swan 56
OPO Crew Request # 24-40 Caribbean to Newport - OPO Member and now pro skipper XXXXXX is looking for two more crew for a total of five for this passage north next month. The boat is a Swan 56 named “Blue”. The owner is going along. He is one of the new up and coming skippers to replace the aging skippers who have been with us for many years. He e-mailed late last yesterday afternoon: I’m on an oyster 62 right now bringing it up from lauderdale to Newport. We have starlink onboard so should have service the whole time. I’m looking for 1-2 more crew who can stand a solo watch for the trip up on the Swan 56 Blue. It will be me and the owner and I’ve got a mate who I’ve know for many years who I sailed with up to Alaska. So looking to make it a total of 4-5 people. We’re planning to leave around the 10th of may. The goal is to head straight to Newport but there’s a good chance we will end up stopping in Bermuda for weather or fuel. Thinking 10-15 days for the trip. Let me know if you need any more info and I hope you’re doing well. Like I said, one of our younger skippers so not much on details. Like which island in the Caribbean the boat is departing from. But we can assume that the passage is free with all onboard boat expenses and food included. A stop in Bermuda is 50-50 on a delivery. If you go straight through it would be closer to ten days. If you are stopping in Bermuda, it could be up to two weeks away. If interested please send your sailing resume to him at XXXXX@XXXX

OPO Crew Request # 24-34 British Virgin Islands to Palm beach Florida or Savannah Georgia - Boat owner and skipper XXXXXX also e-mailed last night looking for crew. He has a 1989 47 ft Van De Stadt Samoa named XXXXXX. Since it is short notice and he is in the BVI and it is a weekend, I have not tried to contact him for more info, so please make sure you ask the questions I did not have time for. He is by himself but is looking for 3 or 4 more crew which sounds like a lot to me. He e-mails that he has his Yachmasters and has 100,000 miles and that he has put the word out on several web sites and has feelers out for crew. You may want to ask him why he wants to sail with so many crew. It appears he is in no rush and plans to take up to 3 weeks for this down winds passage from the BVI to Florida. He is looking for experienced crew and e-mails: Offshore long distance sailing or life on the water racing preferably. 1 novice okay He e-mails: Fully equipped for passage making and cruising but with a full sail locked and racing history. Very comfortable downstairs. Strong, aluminium build with solid dog house. Very, watermaker, fridge, freezer, 800Ah house battery, separate nav battery, starlink. Cat 0 offshore boat, all the safety equipment from liferaft to epirbs to lifejackets with AIS beacons. Have sailed on many. Done 3 crossings on other boats and many many coastal passages and offshore race . To the questions of who else is onboard he e-mails: No one as yet. Intention is to have a crew of 3 to 5. Have adverts on other sites and busy interviewing crew. Have been living on board full time for past year and a half. Have had a fair number of crew cycle through for different passages and they’ve all left happy. He also adds that smoking and drinking onboard are ok. But that fussy eaters need not apply. He also did not explain what terms he is looking for so make sure confirm that he is not asking you to pay for boat expenses etc. We will assume that the passage is free but that you need to get yourself to and from the boat and have money for any shoreside meals and drinks. If he is looking for crew to chip in and pay for his sailing adventure then you may wish to decline as I did not have time to explain to him that our OPO members are volunteer crew who do not expect to pay to go sailing on short notice. If interested please send your sailing resume to him at XXXXX@XXXX

He runs his own Offshore Adventure Program with his own Baltic 49 named XXXXXX and will be charging people to sail with him next June to Europe.
