5/4/2025 from St. Lucia to Grenada on a X-Yacht

OPO Crew Request # 25-26 Long time OPO member and good friend XXXXXX is looking for additional crew to join him for a pleasure cruise for 10 to 12 days. You would join him in St. Lucia and sail north for a couple of days and then south to Grenada where he will be laying up the boat for the off season. He has a 2010 X-yacht XC45 named XXXXXX which is their cruising model. Not a race boat like most X-Yachts. We have been getting crew for him for many years and most have become good friends who have continued to sail with him on his sailing vacations in the Caribbean for the last five years. Since this is a cruise and not a delivery, He asks crew to chip in for some provisioning. Plus he likes to eat ashore more than onboard so you will want to make sure you have money for food and drinks ashore. He e-mails: this would be a week to ten-day sail stopping for snorkeling, dinners on the French islands, exploring the islands, and sailing my ‘new’ 2010 X-Yacht xc45 in the trade winds. I bought this boat in Hamble, UK, and my crew and it sailed it down to the Cape Verde islands and across to Sint Maarten and finally to St. Lucia. it is a great 46’ sailing yacht with 3 staterooms and 2 heads, 2 lee cloths in the saloon midship and still set up to cross oceans. safety features include jack lines, EPIRBS, Predict Wind for weather updates and routing, inflatable life vests and tethers but bring your own if available, Ray Marine chart plotter, radar and autopilot, etc. and have a general familiarity with da island chain between the Virgin Islands and Grenada since I have owned a sailboat down there since 2009 and have been chartering in the lesser Antilles since the 1980s. I do not have a lot of mechanical expertise but rely on either a crew so inclined or I am familiar with many of the individual mechanics on the various islands e.g. the moorings, etc. at this point there are no known issues with this yacht and this will be my 5th sailing adventure for the ‘24- ‘25 sailing season. I’m primarily looking for sailors who would like to sail a great sailing yacht but also enthusiasm for the adventure goes a long way too contributing to the team sport . . . If interested please send your sailing resume to him at XXXXX@XXXX

5/1/2025 from Sarasota Florida to New Bern NC on a Westwind 35

OPO Crew Request # 25-17 Sarasota Florida to New Bern NC - Boat owner and skipper XXXXXX is looking for crew to join her for her passage from the west coast of Florida to New Bern NC. She has a very nice 1984 Young Sun Westwind 35 named XXXXX, which is a double ended boat built in the Young-Sun yard in Taiwan. I had a very similar looking Tayana 37 for 20 years. She has her captains license and is comfortable sailing shorthanded, but prefers at least one other crew for this itinerary. One or two crew for a total of two or three crew depending on the situation. She was referred to us by another delivery skipper who I have known for many years. I spoke with her recently and she was happy to find a closed system like OPO that does not rely on a social message board to attract potential crew. She is a full time live-aboard who has been sailing and cruising most of the last 30 years, first with a significant other and now on her own. She is in no rush but also does not want to linger going up the ICW. Depending on crew she will first plan short hops around the bottom of the Florida peninsula, but then pick up the pace sailing up the East Coast stopping to break up the passage but also take advantage of the Gulf Stream and prevailing southerly winds. She Adds: I've been sailing most of my life from dinghies to 40' boats. Enjoyed living aboard for 4 years in the VI and captaining small power and sail boats there. I sailed for years in the Chesapeake with several trips up and down the ICW and for the past 15 years in the Gulf of Mexico from Apalachicola to the Keys. I enjoy outdoor sports - hiking, birdwatching, kayaking and skiing. The May passage to NC from Florida will be a combination of offshore and ICW hops as weather permits. We plan to break it up into 3-6 legs with a little time onshore so I'm open to crew doing the entire passage or one of the legs. Crew should have some offshore experience and bring along their own life jacket/harness with tether. As usual the passage is free with onboard boat expenses and provisions included, but you have to get to the boat and have money for meals and drinks ashore. If interested, please send your sailing resume to her at XXXXX@XXXX

4/12/2025 from Cape Verde islands to St. Martin, St. Maarten then to Halifax on a Volvo/Whitbread 60

OPO Crew Request # 25-28 We just received this e-mail today. We do get some very interesting passage opportunities from time to time and this is one of those especial ones. Not for everyone, but… This could be considered short notice since it is a long passage. Past OPO member XXXXXX has moved up the food chain to buying an ex-race boat that he will be turning into a business next year charging people to sail aboard. This is an opportunity to sail for free now on her two legs to get her across the Atlantic and then to his home port in Halifax. Ideally crew could make both legs, but if you can only make one leg that could work as well. He explains the opportunity very well so I will use his initial e-mail to pass on more information. For a passage like this I am sure potential crew will have questions that you can if you think you have the time and the skills to take on a passage on a very fast but perhaps uncomfortable and spartan boat. If interested please send your sailing resume to him at him at  XXXXX@XXXXX He e-mails: I have purchased a Volvo/Whitbread 60 to be the foundational yacht for a new adventure charter sailing company I am launching this Spring. We will spend our summers taking people on fun day charters in the Toronto area (Lake Ontario) and then, in Fall, we will take guests North East up the St. Lawrence River (Toronto-Montreal/Montreal-Quebec City/Quebec City-Halifax). I am looking for up to four to six crew for two passages (crew don't need to do both), a Trans-Atlantic from the Cape Verde Islands to St. Martin (2,200mi) leaving approximately April 12th, 2025 and the long Northbound from St. Martin to Halifax (1600mi) leaving St. Martin on approximately April 29, 2025. As I'm sure you know, the Volvo 60 is a renowned Oceangoing Race boat, capable of blistering speeds and built like a tank. We will not be pushing the boat hard but expect to sustain 15 knot speeds in Tradewind conditions, touching twenty on the downside of swells. These passages will be a remarkable experience. Of interest, our boat came third in the 1997/1998 Whitbread, and won line honors in the Sydney-Hobart. The yacht is a spartan race boat, but we do our best to make it as comfortable as possible (we do have a toilet onboard and a fresh water shower on the stern). We will have bean bags for night watch under the stars, simple onboard food, and good company. The yacht is fully equipped with the expected safety gear and systems for a yacht of this caliber (AIS/two life rafts/personal GPS locator bracelets/satellite communications-main and backup-/Starlink/Radar/Survival Suits/First Aid Gear) and will have spray and sun protection which is unusual for a race boat. I am a Yachtmaster Ocean (200 Tonne Master, Unlimited) with 10,000+ Ocean miles. I retired from the Charitable World at 47 a few years ago and have been working to launch this company ever since. My first mate and business partner is a 30-year old Navy Veteran, Circumnavigator, and veteran solo sailing racer. with 25,000+ Ocean Miles. We are both 'people-persons' who love connecting people with the sea and with their true purpose in life. We are looking for crew who want to sail long distances on this kind of boat, a thoroughbred race boat, in good company. We require people who can get along and who bring no drama with them. Remember, this is a race boat, no cabins, but individual bunks (no hot bunking) one toilet, simple food. Crew will need to stand a watch schedule (including night watch) and will be expected to assist with all onboard duties as needed. Crew should bring their own lifejacket and harness with tether. Crew just need to get themselves to and from the boat, and we will take care of everything else including a nice meal ashore pre-departure and on arrival. Crew should allow for some scheduling flexibility (weather etc) but our passage times should be fast and our timelines are not aggressive.

6/7/2025 from Southport NC to Huntington NY on a Tartan 37

OPO Crew Request # 25-71Southport NC to Huntington NY - Boat owner and skipper XXXXXX is looking for two crew for a total of three for this 500 miles passage to his home port he shares with me in Huntington NY. The boat is a very well equipped 1981 Tartan 37 named XXXXXX  that he has done a major refit with. I have sailed with and have known him for many years. He is a very good sailor, nice guy and has lots of offshore miles. He has a Royal Yachting Association license, Yachtmaster Offshore, USCG 50-ton Masters, and has participated in legs of the Clipper Around the World Race 11-12 crew member and the Sydney to Hobart race 2016. He got a lot of his early miles through OPO and then continued to pursue his dream to finally owning an ocean-going boat. The sailing will take about 5 days, but allow up to a week away from home. He Adds: In 2015, Labrador found his boat, a 1981 Tartan 37 in St. Augustine, Florida. The price was $42,000. The next step was to remake it according to Labrador’s needs. During the past two and a half years, he and Project Manager Todd Brice of Yacht Service Ltd. in Amityville, New York, have turned the centerboard model (Hull 355) into “the ultimate Tartan 37 refit.” “I took all the lessons I had learned, picked the brains of different skippers, looked at what worked and what didn’t work, and put it all into this boat,” Labrador says. The 35-plus-year-old boat was stripped to its bare hull. The project included fixing a hole in the hull and removing, inspecting and refastening just about every fitting. Yacht Service Ltd. installed a new engine with a custom access hatch cut into the cockpit sole; a generator was installed where a water heater once went; and a new propane locker was added. The rigging was redone and new sails were ordered. Wiring, plumbing, paint, varnish, woodwork-it all got a going-over. “I helped strip the boat and then turned things over to them,” Labrador says. “We started with a list of ideas and products and went from there. We got to know each other, and it seemed to go well. Along the way, I realized Todd was putting as much of his heart and soul into the project as I was.” You can read about it and see a picture of him at https://www.UUUUUU.com/ Since he was an OPO member for several years and did several passages through OPO he knows how it works. The passage is free with all onboard provisioning and boat expenses included, but as usual you need to get to and from the boat and have money for shoreside meals and drinks. 7/31/2025 from Stamford, CT to Rockland, Maine on a Tartan 2700

OPO Crew Request # 25-66 Boat owner and skipper XXXXXX is looking for two crew who wish to join him for his annual sail north to cruise the Maine area with his wife. He got crew from us last year to sail the 350 miles non-stop so his wife can drive up and miss the delivery up to Rockland. The boat is a 2009 Tartan 2700 named XXXXXX. He has done the passage five times before so is comfortable making the passage non-stop. I spoke with him on the phone and he sounds like a nice guy and knows what he is doing. Since he is looking for crew well in advance, his idea is that OPO members who live close enough can plan to visit him and the boat to confirm that you like the boat and you like each other before committing to the passage. A zoom call could be a second option. The passage is free with all onboard provisioning and boat expenses included, but as usual you need to get to and from the boat. The two crew can coordinate with him how to get home or back to XXXXXX to pick up cars to get home. If interested please e-mail him at XXXXX@XXXX

6/14/2025 from Lewes DE to Oyster Bay on a Tartan

OPO Crew Request # 25-72 Co-boat owners of this 2015 Racing model 33-foot Tartan 101 named XXXXXX, are looking for two more crew to join them for the delivery to get this boat from Annapolis to Block Island for Block Island Race week. Lewes DE is at the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay. You can join the boat in Lewes or drive down from Annapolis with the other crew. The plan is to depart this Saturday and get the boat either to Oyster Bay to position her for the short hop to Block Island before BI Race week, or if possible, with a good weather window, to go straight to Block. Co-owner XXXXXX is in charge of putting crew together as her co-owner is just finishing the Annapolis to Newport Race this week. The Tartan 101 is a sporty racing boat that was popular when she first came out and was a one-designed in fleet racing boat when there were enough of them. It can be a fun boat to sail, but more a race boat than comfortable cruising boat. She Adds: Aremorica, a Tartan 101 racer-cruiser, is on her way to Block Island Race Week. She was outfitted with new electronics, radar, AIS, Starlink, an autopilot, and a racing bottom this spring. She is in Lewes, DE waiting for a weather window and two additional experienced hands to make the trip north and arrive in Block Island, RI no later than June 20th. We have two options - 1 - duck in and go up the east side of Manhattan to Western Long Island sound where we have a mooring and the owners can take her from there, or make the direct ocean passage and sail directly from Lewes, DE to Block Island. Meet in Annapolis for a car ride to Lewes, DE or join the boat at Lewes, DE. The passage is free with all onboard boat expenses and provisioning included. They also want to help coordinate getting crew home and figure it might be easier to get back from Oyster Bay NY than Block, but that will be part of the logistical questions you will solve as a crew. If interested please send your sailing resume and telephone number to XXXXX@XXXX

7/19/2025 from Charleston SC to Newport RI on a Swan 56

OPO Crew Request # 25-79 Pro skipper and XXXXXX is looking for one more crew to sail this Swan 56 from Charleston to Newport. The other crew is the owner. There will be a total of three crew, but he says the 3rd does not have to have lots of offshore miles, just be a pleasant crew since the owner will be aboard and you know enough to make him feel that OPO crew know what they are doing. He Adds: Crew do not need to be super experienced but must be able to stand a solo watch. We will be doing a 3 on 6 off rotation. I expect the trip will be about 4 days. The owner is easy going and the boat is very well maintained; I have moved it with him several times in the past. The boat has starlink and all the safety gear. It goes between Newport and the Caribbean annually. I will be driving from Maine down to Providence RI to fly down to Charleston, and driving back up to Maine when we get back. If the crew is in my area, they can catch a ride with me and we can coordinate flights. As usual the trip is free, they just need to get to and from the boat. He has gotten crew from us before and it has worked out well. He e-mails: We're Planning to deliver Antares from St Lucia to the Chesapeake Bay this spring. Current plan is to depart from Rodney Bay at the beginning of May. One of our crew isn't able to join. I'm looking for a reliable, physically fit and congenial sailor to add to our crew for a total of 4 sailors aboard. We'd prefer someone with offshore experience and some big boat experience. This is a recreational gig. I'll cover provisions aboard. We run a dry boat while underway and a 4 on/ 8 off watch system. I've owned and maintained Antares for 25 years and have sailed her single handed and crewed 35000+NM.Antares is extraordinarily well maintained and wonderful to sail offshore. 5/11/2025 from Bermuda to Newport, RI on a Swan 48

OPO Crew Request # 25-57 This is a rare passage opportunity to sail with me XXXXXX on a 2002 Swan 48 from Bermuda to Newport. This is a Swan Program Passage opportunity that usually costs $2500 per leg. We arrived today in Bermuda and I have one crew who has a family emergency and needed to leave. Not only is this passage free, but the departing crew will pay for your plane ticket (within reason) so both the passage and travel to the boat are free. I have three crew who did the first leg with me so am looking for one more for a total of 5 including me. I do need a crew with offshore experience and can drive a boat offshore as we like to not use the autopilot and hand steer as this is a training passage. You will learn a lot. You would need to buy a plane ticket on very short notice as I will check e-mail tomorrow after lunch and make a decision by late afternoon so you can book a flight and arrive in Bermuda Saturday or Sunday. Sorry for such a short notice but things happen beyond our control. Let me know if you are interested and I will let you know late tomorrow. I will send you a letter for immigration when you arrive with a one-way ticket in Bermuda. The boat is a sistership to our Swan 48 Avocation but with two cabins and not three which is why we sail with five crew and not six. The boat has power roller furling and a generator and is in great shape. I am getting spoiled with her. I sailed the boat south last November and will be sailing south from Newport to St. Maarten next November, but that passage will cost $5000. This leg is Free. If interested please send me your sailing resume to XXXXX@XXXX and I will check e-mail tomorrow afternoon after lunch and get back to you so you can book a flight and join us. Of course more details to follow once we agree to your joining us.

2/14/2025 from Panama Canal to Marquéses and then Papeete, Tahiti on a Swan 47

OPO Crew Request # 25-05 XXXXXX owner and skipper XXXXXX is in Panama aboard his 1981 Swan 47 named Swan. He has one experienced crew and is looking for one or two more crew or a couple who wish to join them. They have a XXXXXX date of Feb 16th so you would want to join them before then if you want to transit the Canal or soon after at the other end or join them for the 1st long Leg to the Marquéses and then on to Tahiti. The plan is to be in Australia by the end of 2025. But one leg at a time. Brian met another Swan 47 owner in Panama who had two OPO members aboard. That owner told him about us and has confirmed to me that Brian is a good guy with a nice seaworthy boat. He has a commercial license and has a lot of offshore miles. They are at the XXXXXX marina on the Caribbean side of the Canal which is the place to get hauled out and have work done before crossing to the Pacific. This is where you would join the boat if you wanted to transit the Canal. He Adds: Our yacht is a swan 47 and it is in very good condition. It was just antifouled, the liferaft serviced, the outboard serviced, all systems checked. We have B and G chartplotter and two hand held gps for backup. We have an Iridium sat phone for offshore voice and data but do not have Starlink. Videos of this swan are available. I have done the Panama to Tahiti passage twice in the past. I have done a few circum-navigations and have commercial Marine qualification. We never smoke onboard. We never drink alcohol at sea. The passage is free with all onboard expenses included, but as usual you need to get to and from the boat and have money for meals and drinks ashore. 4/1/2024 from St. Thomas to Bahamas on a Starret Jenkins 45

OPO Crew Request # 25-15 Retired charter boat captain XXXXXX is looking for one or two crew to join him for this downwind sail from the USVI to the Green Turtle Cay in the Bahamas. While we normally do not send out a crew request for a passage until the sale is complete (SALE) we have a soft spot for retired skippers. He is about to close on this classic Starret Built Jenks 45 that has a new rig, new engine and new sails. I spoke with him and all seems well. He plans to add a new dodger and have the boat ready by the end of March or early April. He has spent 20 years in the Caribbean working for others and now wants to sail his own boat with this 1st leg from St. Thomas to the Bahamas. He would like to sail with three in total, 4 max if there is a couple that would like to join. He will pay for all boat expenses and onboard food. W will let common sense help decide what you want to add to the pantry. You pay to get to and from the boat and have money for meals and drinks ashore. He has his fist destination set, the departure and arrival time is still in planning stages so you will want to be addresses up front. I spoke with him who is looking forward to his sailing his own boat where he wants for a change. If interested please send your sailing resume to him at XXXXX@XXXX

6/27/2025 from Erie, PA (multi-day race) to Erie, PA on a Soverel 33

OPO Crew Request # 25-14 Boat owner and skipper XXXXXX e-mailed today seeking one or two crew to join for 5 days of racing across eastern Lake Erie aboard his 1985 Soverel 33 named StarLite. He is planning well in advance. Since this is not an offshore “crew request” I do not feel I need to call him and ask about safety gear etc. He did a good job writing up his “crew request” following our format making it very easy for me. I am sure his attention to detail and planning in advance speak well for how his runs his boat and a crew he is forming for a fun week early in the season. While obviously a member who lives within easy driving for the race might be ideal, there is no reason why you cannot plan to join for a fun week if planned well. He and his local crew have a few pictures on https://www.UUUUU.com showing a well-maintained boat. The event is scheduled for June 27th to July 2nd, with a July 3-4th extension to move the boat back to its home port. More race detail found on website https://www.UUUUU.com . He Adds: Crew must have sailing experience though offshore racing experience not required. Crew should bring their own personal gear and be able to enter Canada. This is our annual inter-club event so crew should be willing to socialize after each day race. We are not a die-hard competitive boat so do not expect a high stress environment. Because this is a racing vessel, crew can expect few creature comforts. Will do my best to adjust to crew skillset - likely a trimmer role. As usual you need to get to and from the boat and have money for meals and drinks ashore. Owner works in Cleveland and is willing to pick up from airport for easier travel. All onboard boat expenses and onboard provisioning is paid by the owner. If interested please send your sailing resume to him at XXXXX@XXXX

2/28/2025 from Sarasota FL to Daytona FL on a Selene 45 Trawler

OPO Crew Request # 25-16 Sarasota FL to Daytona FL - Boat owner/captain XXXXXX and his wife XXXXXX are looking for one crew or a couple who would like to help handle lines and navigate the Florida ICW from the West Coast to the East Coast. He is a lifelong boater with plenty of experience and owns two Trawlers, the other being a 44’ Nordic Tug on the Northwest Coast. They boat this 2005 Selene 45 Trawler named XXXXXX to complete what is referred to as the Atlantic Loop, (in stages over the next couple of years) going up the East Coast of the US, through the NY Canal System, across the Great lakes and down the Mississippi River. Part of the year they will go back to the other boat. He and his wife heard about us through another boat owner and called us to seek a crew for only this leg. Docking and maneuvering any boat between docking piles and fixed bulkheads is a lot different than docking in marinas with floating docks common in the Northern half of the US with bigger tidal ranges. The crew would have their own head and cabin forward. The passage is free with all onboard expenses and provisions included. If you are looking for some time on the water making day-passages and enjoying the scenery, this may be of interest to you. For the right person he would be willing to help with a travel stipend, within reason, since this is short notice. I spoke with him this morning and he sounds like a very nice guy who has been boating for a long time, but after running around once and wanting help docking in tight quarters would welcome a good crew for the passage from Venice Florida across the Okeechobee Canal and up ICW to about the Daytona area. He figures about three weeks. While they would leave earlier if you are ready (They have paid for dockage until Feb 28th) they would like crew who could join them asap. This is a nice miles builder on power boat. If interested please send your sailing resume to him at XXXXX@XXXX

5/1/2025 from Port of Islands Marina to St Thomas on a Seawind 1370 / 45' Cat

OPO Crew Request # 25-25 Boat owner XXXXXX and his wife are looking for two or three crew (One couple would me perfect to share a cabin) for a total of four or five crew for this upwind passage from Florida to the USVI. The boat is a new Seawind 1370 which is a 45foot Catamaran. He has owned or chartered two previous catamarans. He knows this is an upwind passage from Florida to the Caribbean, but the winds are much calmer this time of year so hopefully with the weather cooperating this passage may take as little as 10 to 14 days, but one has to understand that you cannot make miles if the winds or sea are up and you have to wait on weather. He adds and explains: Will most likely port into Key West then Turks and Caicos to refuel, provision and a two-day fun/rest. Anticipate arriving in St Thomas before May 14th. My wife and I will be aboard and looking for 3 crew, no hot bedding but two will share a cabin. Karen my wife is cook and chief bottle washer. I have brought two cats up from the BVI’s to Fort Lauderdale once as crew and the other as skipper, both in later May. Sold the lagoon and chartered in the Carib whilst I waited for the Seawind to be delivered. I use Predict Wind which I have found very accurate if the polars are set conservatively. Flat out no stops is 8 days but a lot of motoring, thus two stop overs for fuel. I run two 57hp Yanmar’s with Gori props. I find cruise speed at 7.5 to 7.8 knots where she likes to cruise and calculated 1.4 gallons per hour with 166-gallon capacity of fuel. The passage is free with boat expenses and onboard food included, but as usual you need to get to and from the boat and have money for meals and drinks along the way. If interested please send your sailing resume to him at XXXXX@XXXX

I have known him for a long time. He sailed in our NARC Rally more than once. He has gotten OPO crew several times and it always worked out well. He is a nice guy. He has two returning crew who have sailed with him before. You would be the 4th and final crew. He is a lifelong sailor and has the boat well outfitted for offshore sailing. He has sailed back and forth about 10 times. You would plan to fly into St. Thomas a day or two before departure. Our small Swan Feet of three boats will be leaving from St. Maarten on the same Day May 3rd. If you have to stop in Bermuda we will see you. If the boat does not stop in Bermuda the passage will be about 10 to 11 days. If you do need to stop for weather or fuel you might see us, but this would add a day or two to the passage. The boat will make final landfall in Dutch Harbor, Jamestown, which is across from Newport Harbor on the opposite of Aquidneck IslandThe trip is free with all onboard expenses included. 6/15/2025 from Horta (Faial, Azores) to Gloucester, Massachusetts on a Sabre 38

OPO Crew Request # 25-02 Boat owner and skipper XXXXXX is putting his crew together for his return passage from Europe to New England this June. He was referred to us by another delivery skipper who knows only to tell nice people with seaworthy boats about us. The boat 1982 Sabre 38 Mk I named XXXXXX. This is a good boat with an experienced owner doing his due diligence to put a good crew together for this last leg to his home port. He will be sailing with a total of 4 crew. He is all set with previous crew who have time to make the first leg to the Azores, but most of his friends to do not have the extra time to make the longer leg back home. The boat is a very well equipped and maintained. New sails and a lot of new gear since 2023 in preparation for his outbound passage to Europe. He has an extensive list of equipment and boat description with pictures that he can share with you. The boat is currently in the marina at A Coruña, Spain (indoors) undergoing the usual repairs and refitting to be ready for the passage home in June. He has been sailing a long time and has a number of long passages completed including, Cape May to Bermuda, Bermuda to Antigua, South Pacific (Fiji to Vanuatu), Two transatlantic crossings (Newfoundland to Bantry, Ireland; Gloucester, MA to Azores), Azores to Falmouth, England, Bay of Biscay: Lorient, and France to A Coruña, Spain. This will be the return leg after spending two years in Europe. He is also a member of the Ocean Cruising Club. While this will be the first time, he is getting crew from us I did speak with him on the phone. He e-mails: I am looking for at least two experienced, competent crew - happy to have women as well as men - In addition to extensive sailing experience. some mechanical aptitude, and congenial personality, it would be extremely helpful to have someone with expertise in electronic/satellite comms, particularly to stay in touch with WRI, the weather routing service I use for departure planning and for guidance along the way. We will depart Horta sometime (TBD) in the middle of June. I expect we will make landfall three to four weeks later. We'll do our best to ensure an uneventful crossing. The boat will cover all costs for the crew once they arrive into Horta, including lodging and meals. He likes to spend the first couple of days ashore before moving aboard and departing soon after. He will cover the cost of all onboard provisioning, and boat expenses. You pay for pay for personal expenses ashore. For the right crew he will also contribute to/subsidize the cost of transportation from the US to the Azores within reason. If interested please send your sailing resume to him at XXXXX@XXXX

4/17/2025 from Vero Beach FL to Salem MA on a Passport 40

OPO Crew Request # 25-39 Captain and boat owner XXXXXX is looking for one or two more crew for a total of three crew for his sail north this spring. The boat is a 1983 Passport 40 named XXXXXX that he has owner for 16 years. He has a web site at www.UUUUU.com He plans to sail with three crew, but plans short hops up the coast as he is in no rush. While he states the passage could be done in as little as two weeks, weather and waiting on a good weather window could delay the passage. This is a good miles building passage for someone who plans to buy a boat and make this passage in the future. Learn from a pro who has made this passage many times. He has gotten crew from us before and it has worked out well. He Adds: Malay carries all required safety equipment as well as a full suite of electronics, vhf, AIS, radar, 2 independent chart plotters, satellite communications. Inspected life raft. This passage is an early season move from Florida to New England and will be accomplished in short 2-4 day passages unless we get a lucky weather window allowing more days offshore. Currently it is expected we will sail Vero Beach to Fernandina Beach FL (2days), then to Beaufort NC (3days), then 4 days on ICW to Norfolk VA, thence to either NYC(2days) or Block Island RI (3days) then onto Salem MA, 2-day sails. This trip can be done in under two weeks with good weather but considering time of year and likely short weather windows it could take as much as 4 weeks. This trip is perfect for those considering moving their own most along the US east coast as we will sail the route commonly used by migratory boats traveling from New England to Florida and the Bahamas. Should we have to wait on weather we will stop in interesting places such as Cumberland Island National Seashore. Malaya is a carnivorous boat. We cannot accommodate diets that do not eat meat or fish. Crew should know their motion sickness limits and how to deal with them, must carry own motion meds. The passage is free with all onboard expenses included, but you end to get to and from the boat and have money for meals and drinks at stops along the way. 3/1/2025 from St Thomas USVI to Georgetown Exuma Bahamas on a Passport 40

OPO Crew Request # 25-12  Boat owner and skipper XXXXXX is looking for one more two experienced crew for this two-week leg aboard his 1983 Passport 40 named XXXXXX.  He and his boat are profiled on their web site www.UUUUUU.com. He has over 100,000 miles and has been in the marine industry long enough to be called an old salt. I am confident the boat is in very good shape. This is a downwind passage sailing with the trades. While the 700 miles downwind passage should only take about five days at sea, He is planning 1) To pick a good weather window. 2) Allow crew to arrive up to three or four days to get acclimated and/or enjoy the USVI. 3) Allow crew to also spend a couple of days in Georgetown after you arrive.  His sailing partner is also in the marine trade business and she is too busy working to make the passage. (Someone has to make some money??). He is in no super rush and would like to share his boat and the route with one or two compatible sailors. If you do not have two weeks you do not have to stay at the other end after helping with final cleanup upon arrival.

He Adds:

Crew should have sailing experience though offshore experience not required, crew must have own sailing gear such as lifejacket/harness and tether, AIS and/or Personal EPIRB beacon, tropical foul weather gear. All gear packed in soft duffle seabag. Crew need to bring all necessary prescriptions in original bottles We are not a vegetarian or vegan boat.  Crew needs to know how likely they are to suffer motion problems and how to handle them so they can function, must also provide own motion meds. This is a downwind/reaching passage. Likely lots of rolling, though we do try to keep it under control as much as possible.

As usual you need to get to and from the boat and have money for meals and drinks ashore. All onboard boat expenses and onboard provisioning is paid by the owner. If interested please send your sailing resume to him at

3/12/2025 from Brunswick, GA to St. Martin or Antigua on a Oyster 575

OPO Crew Request # 25-24 Boat owner XXXXXX sent us this crew request Sunday evening. We all know this is very short notice, but this is a great boat with a very experienced skipper and mate so I decided it was worth a shot to send out and see if we have any OPO members who are ready on short notice. The boat is a 2012 Oyster 575 named XXXXXX that had a refit in 2023. This is a very well-equipped boat. They do not require crew with a lot of offshore experience. More important is that you are available, will be a pleasure to have aboard and can follow instructions. The skipper is an Annapolis grad, former Naval officer, boat owner, experienced racer, multiple ocean crossings. The 1st mate has sailed multiple transatlantics. He Adds: KOA MOANA is a cutter rigged, Oyster 575 with hydraulic in mast furling. We will be carrying an asymmetric downwind sail with a sock and a reacher with roller furling. She has the standard Oyster conveniences i.e.: generator, water maker, microwave, A/C, etc. Electronics include radar, three chart plotters and autopilot. A refit was completed in 2023, including all new working sails and standing rigging. The passage is free with all onboard expenses and onboard provisions included. Normally OPO crew pay their own way to and from the boat. Since this was shirt notice I dd not take the time to ask him if he is willing to offer a travel stipend “Within reason” for good crew who can drop everything and get to the boat in Georgia and help with this upwind delivery to St. Maarten or Antigua. He did not specify which one so you will also have to ask where the boat will end up so you can plan to travel home. 4/13/2025 from Tortola BVI to Westbrook CT on a Oyster 56

OPO Crew Request # 25-04 Boat owner a friend XXXXXX is putting his crew together for the annual passage north from the Caribbean to Pilots Point Marina in Westbrook CT. The boat will be at Nanny Cay Marina in the BVI in April. He used to skipper the passage himself but more recently he has hired a fellow pro skipper Matt, who has skippered the boat the last few times. I also know Matt and he is a very pleasant Brit with lots of miles. They are very safety conscious and run a good ship. The boat is a very well equipped and maintained 2007 Oyster 56 named XXXXXX. The boat has made the passage annually north and south for many years. He used to own a Swan 46 with the same name and I moved it in our Swan Program until he bought his Oyster. He is looking for three crew for a total of four including the pro skipper Matt. Until this year there were always repeat OPO crew aboard. This year all the regular OPO crew have conflicts so this is your chance to get on the list of repeat crew and can be invited back next year for the sail south if all goes well. Plan to board the boat on Sunday, April 13, attend the boat orientation and safety briefing on Monday, April 14th, and depart on Tuesday, April 15th, weather permitting. The plan is to bypass Bermuda unless the boat needs fuel. Once underway it should be about a ten-day passage not stopping in Bermuda. A stop there would add a day or two at most. The passage is free with all onboard and boat expenses included, but you need to get to and from the boat and have money for any meals and drinks ashore. If interested please send your sailing resume to him at XXXXX@XXXX You will then be contacted to arrange a Zoom call to help put a good crew together. He does a thorough job of vetting his crew so do not feel to put out while he does his due diligence. He likes to make sure he puts a good crew together so he looking for crew with “recent blue-water sailing experience.”

5/12/2025 from St Martin French side to Hampton, VA on a Oyster 53

OPO Crew Request # 25-55 Boat owner and skipper XXXXXX are looking for one or two crew for their passage north aboard their 2001 Oyster 53 named XXXXXX. She came across from Europe in the 2023 ARC. They normally sail as a couple but would like one or two more crew for this offshore leg. If things go well and everyone enjoys each ither crew are welcome to stay on longer all the way to Maine. He describes the passage opportunity well. He e-mails: Experienced Owner and partner/wife looking for experienced crew for offshore passage Mid-May from St Martin to East Coast USA, possibly through Bermuda if weather requires. FROGS LEAP is a well-equipped Oyster 53 offshore vessel built for range, and we we purchased her in December 2024 to upgrade our 50 foot centurion 49. She had sat in St Lucia after a 2023 transatlantic ARC crossing, we did a refit to get her up to specs. You: Experienced on offshore passages. Some moderately heavy weather experience (30 to 40), radar watch capable, Can operate plotter, trim sails or adjust course for trim, stand watch alone at night, good hygiene, not drinking while on passage, tidy and respectful of the boat's wood work and cosmetic aspects, intelligent on sailing, rigging, safety, and honest about experience level, for everyone's sake please ( I say this based on past experience). Looking for 1 to two crew, we normally double hand the boat but believe safe minimum is three. More about the boat: We spent four months equipping this boat and inspecting it in Martinique, and upgrading all the systems, repairing little things, etc. My tardiness in posting crew ads and calling friends who normally crew for me is due to many need to build trust with enough navigation days and trials in winds to 34 knots and seas to 7 feet, or motoring long periods of time. So only in the last week or two did we gain confidence enough to call the itinerary North, instead of storage in Grenada. Plan B south is if we cannot get experienced crew. More about us: We logged probably 17 to 19000 miles in the last four years, highlights of offshore were Salty Dawg Caribbean Rally in 2023 south, and non rally transatlantic crossing in May and June 2025. I have 40 years of sailing racing and cruising on boats 2 tons to 25 tons. Our itinerary was NJ to Florida back to Maine back to Florida back to Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia, back to Virginia, to Antigua, to Grenada, to Antigua, to the Azores, to Gibraltar, and eventually ended up in Sicily with the Wauquiez Centurion 49 (the boat is for sale at a terrific price for probably the best shape and equipped Centurion ever). Going offshore requires trust in the boat, and I had to build this up over a few weeks before I called a green light on a passage. PLBs on board, and will buy a few things in St Martin and provision there next week. More about the current Skills: I live aboard since December 2020, I am a retired engineering director, in semiconductors and telecom, and i tools and spares are available can fix things from Watermakers to Rebuilding diesel engines top and bottom, installing new refrigeration systems, electrical Victron systems, etc, to fiberglass repair with vacuum bagging, and TIG arc welding and machining, to name a few skills. More about what we seek in a crew: Additionally: - You get yourself to the departure point. That is your only expected expense except for your personal safety gear. - We pay for food, fuel, starlink connection, but no video streaming - You have no medical conditions that could be assessed by me as a risk offshore - You have no mental health issues (trust me this question is not ridiculous based on some of the stories and personal experience). - You are willing to disclose any issues which affect the safety of the boat and crew. If interested please send your sailing resume to him at XXXXX@XXXX

7/6/2025 from Cruising Between NY and to Maine on a Outremer 55

OPO Crew Request # 25-73 Boat owners and skipper XXXXXX is looking for one crew or a couple that would be “adopted” for 10 weeks starting about July 6th in NY area.. The boat is a 2021 Outremer 55 named Akaroa III. He and his wife are presently in the Caribbean and have a pro skipper from France joining them for the sail to the New York area at the end of the month. He leaves by July 6th. He and his wife are not from the USA and would like both help cruising local waters from NY to Maine before sailing back to the Caribbean in November. They want to spend the season and cruising New England plus have help handling the boat and enjoying the season. I spoke with him on the phone today via whats app and he sounds like a very nice man who is looking to enjoy a visit to the USA and not get into any trouble by doing something wrong. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to build sea miles and get into the business or someone who can help run and maintain a big boat. One person, or a couple, can work as his wife would not mind not having to cook and clean for two guys??. He is willing to “adopt” the right person for the season or enter into a mutually agreed upon renumerated position where you might boat sit while they go ashore or leave for a day or two to explore. He Adds: Akaroa III is a performance Catamaran. My wife and I have completed a world circumnavigation over the last 4 years. She is a very comfortable yacht. We are looking to Cruise around from NY to Maine this summer. We are looking for crew to help maintain her and help with sailing and cooking. We come from Australia. 7/1/2025 from Nelson New Zealand to Brisbane Australia on a Morgan 60

OPO Crew Request # 25-31 I know this Crew Request might seem like a big ask for OPO members, but it is a passage opportunity that might interested a couple of members. I got this information XXXXXX who has a very interesting passage from New Zealand to Australia this summer on a 2024 custom built Morgan 60 named “XXXXXX”. He says she is a fractional sloop canting keeled boat that is very fast. He is looking for one more “well seasoned Sailor” for a total of 4 crew for this 2500 mils passage that he expects to compete in 10 days. Of course add more time for travel and time before and after. He says the boat is very well equipped. He has over 40 years of sailing and 250,000 miles. Rather than I keep going back and forth asking him more questions (Like is he planning to do some ocean racing in the near future?) I thought I would send it out and see if anyone wanted to send him a sailing resume and ask more questions directly from him. The passage is free but you need to get to and from the boat. If interested please send your sailing resume to him at XXXXX@XXXX

3/10/2025 from Cienfuegos Cuba to Isla Porvenir Panama on a Maverick 440

OPO Crew Request # 25-06 Boat owner and skipper XXXXXX sent us an e-mail this morning to post the following “Crew Request”. He and his partner are looking for one more experienced crew to join them for a total of three crew. You can join for the passage or stay longer if you wish. The boat is a 2023 Maverick 440 named XXXXXX . He has owned the boat that since new. You can see the boat and follow them at https://www.UUUUU.com He e-mails: We will be departing Cuba in mid March (2025). We are a cruising couple looking for an experienced and compatible crewmember for this leg. We will be leaving from Cienfuegos on the southern coast of Cuba, with easy access to the Jaime González International Airport (CFG). Given the challenges for US citizens, this might be a better fit for a non-American. We will arrive in Isla Porvenir, Panama near the San Blas Islands which has frequent flights to Panama City. If you desire to visit either area, you are welcome to come early and/or stay later. You will have your own private stateroom and bath with full shower. I am an experienced skipper on a 2-year old 44-foot catamaran. I left Cape Town, South Africa in 2023 and am on an indefinite circumnavigation. The yacht is a Maverick 440 built in Capetown built to my specs. She is luxurious and offers well thought out accommodations. Full electronics for navigation, Starlink internet, washer/dryer, induction stove, gas grill, electric winches, solar panels, Lithium batteries. He has also owned a Beneteau 39 and Hallberg Rassy 352 before moving to two hulls. Travel and personal expenses are on you and we share provisioning expenses. As usual you need to get to and from the boat and have money for meals and drinks ashore. In addition he asks crew to share in provisioning as well. Always ask what he thinks might be in advance so there are no surprises. He has been inviting other crew to join him so will have a very good idea of what this might be. If you are planning to join for more than just a delivery it is common and reasonable to ask to chip in for your share of provisioning. All boat expenses are covered by the owner. If interested please send your sailing resume to him at XXXXX@XXXX and you can schedule a whats app or zoom call after.

5/1/2025 from Palencia (Belize) to Tortola (BVI) on a Leopard 45 Catamaran

OPO Crew Request # 25-50 Pro delivery skipper XXXXXX is looking for two crew for a total of four crew to help deliver this Moorings 2023 Leopard 45 Catamaran back from Belize. He already has one crew. He has been delivery skipper for 16 years and has over 150,000 miles. He was referred to us by a very good friend and fellow delivery skipper who I trust. I also met him once before as well. Since pro skippers can do much of the delivery on their own, they still require attentive crew who want to learn more. He will get you up to speed to stand a solo watch in open ocean and get more quality sea time. He e-mails: No extensive experience is required. You must not be seasick. You must be motivated. He e-mails more about himself: I recently crewed a Swan 61 on a passage from the British Virgin Islands to Florida and helped deliver a Columbia 10.5 down the east coast of the U.S. I chartered a Bavaria 41 in the Adriatic for two weeks in 2024. I bought my first boat in 1985, it was a Holder 12. The next year I traded it in on a Catalina 22. I sailed her on Lake of the Ozarks, inland lakes in Colorado, the St. Lawrence river and on Buzzards Bay. I sold her in 2005. I owned a Com-Pac 27 that I sailed in New England and Puget Sound. I've been on some racing crews over the years, mostly in Puget Sound. I also crewed a friend's Ultimate 20 on few races. I've taken the ASA Bareboat and Coastal Cruising course in Marblehead, MA. I am currently teaching a small group how to sail on a Cape Dory Typhoon on a mountain lake in Colorado. I have mechanical, electrical and carpentry experience. I recently converted a bare Sprinter van into a camper. I installed a 200 watt solar system, lights and reefer unit. I also put in vinyl plank flooring, pine tongue and groove on the ceiling and insulated the whole thing. I spent a good portion of my career working in 24/7 command centers. My last position was as the Commander of a 22 person hazmat team. I also spent a few years as a Fire Fighter and I completed 80% of an EMT program that I couldn't finish because I was reassigned. I think it is safe to say that I comfortable in high-stress, high-stakes environments and am comfortable standing watches alone. The passage is free with all boat expenses and onboard provisions included, but you need to get to and from the boat and have money for meals and drinks ashore. If interested please send your sailing resume to him at XXXXX@XXXX

4/30/2025 from Fort Lauderdale, FL to Bridgeport, CT on a Hylas 46

OPO Crew Request # 25-29 Boat owner and skipper XXXXXX and his wife are looking for at least two and possibly three crew (A single and a couple?) for a total of five crew to help sail their 2004 Hylas 46 named XXXXXX from Derecktor Shipyard in Dania Beach Forida to the Bridgeport CT area on Long Island Sound. They would like crew with some offshore since you will be expected to stand a solo watch sometimes. While Mike has owned several boats in the past including an Ericsson, Sabre, captained a 130-foot 3 masted topsail schooner The boat is new to them. They bought her from the owners in Panama and sailed her to Fort Lauderdale. Trip was 12 days. Mike has over thirty offshore passages on previous boats. She Adds: The boat is in excellent condition, all new electronics, new sails and rigging, bottom freshly painted with new folding propeller, too many upgrades to list. All state of the art, everything has been professionally serviced including engine, auto pilot, generator, water maker. She’s been completely looked over and have survey if needed. He is a very experienced sailor. I have less experience, limited blue water miles and mostly coastal sailing. We are looking forward to experienced crew. Experience on a Hylas would be bonus. The boat is in Derecktor shipyard on Ft Lauderdale having her hull blasted and repainted, new folding propeller, and other engine maintenance. The plan is straight shot from Ft Lauderdale to Beaufort to reprovision/refuel, then straight shot to Connecticut. We would only stay in Beaufort 1 day/ 2 days max or what the weather window shows. Crew can arrive 1 day in advance or earlier. I have rented an Airbnb big enough to house crew. It would be nice to have the crew get acclimated. The Passage is free with all onboard expenses included, but you need to get to and from the boat and have money for meals and drinks ashore. If interested please send your sailing resume to her at XXXXX@XXXX

5/21/2025 from Stuart Florida to Newport on a Hinckley 48

OPO Crew Request # 25-44 Boat owner a good friend XXXXXX is looking for one more crew for a total of three crew for his passage north from Florida to Newport next month. I have known him for many years and he has annually sailed south with us in the NARC Rally for most of the last 20 years. He has a very well equipped, but old, Hinckley 48 that he keeps in very good shape. He has put a new engine in this winter and is planning to depart for a circumnavigation and has the boat in tip top shape before he leaves next fall. He has made the passage many times between the Caribbean and New England. He is also putting a list of crew together who he has sailed with and will invite for parts of his circumnavigation. This is a great chance to meet him and perhaps be invited for a leg. He has gotten crew from us many times before and most crew have a great time. You need to understand that he loves his boat and wants crew to also take good care of her as he does most of the maintenance and varnish work himself. Crew need to have some offshore experience and are comfortable standing a solo watch. The plan is to depart with a good weather window which is easier later in May and take advantage of the Gulf Stream and make the passage in once shot. The passage could take as little as 6 or 7 days but plan to be away for up to ten days if you need to stop. The passage is free with all boat expenses and onboard food included, but you end to get to and from the boat. If interested please send your sailing resume to him at XXXXX@XXXX

They are participating in the World ARC and are currently cruising the Tuamotus, on the way to Tahiti. If you are not familiar with the world ARC please google it. We have two OPO members who have sailed in this fleet of boats sailing around the world in an organized rally. You will meet a lot of other interesting people in the fleet. He is looking for one crew to join for the leg from Bora Bora to Fiji and either one more crew for the following leg from Fiji to Australia, with later passages available as well. One person can make both legs and add a 2nd crew for the 2nd leg, or a crew for the first leg and two crew for the 2nd leg. Depends if the crew for the 1st keg cn make both legs. The preference is to have the 1st crew make both legs and only add one more new crew for the 2nd leg. Leg 1: Bora Bora to Fiji. 1965nm. Crew arrives Bora Bora May 14th, departs Fiji June 13th. Stops: Niue, Vava'u Tonga Leg 2: Fiji - Cairns, Australia. 2130nm. Crew arrives Fiji July 2nd, departs Cairns August 5th. I have talked on the phone with him. Sounds like a very nice guy with a good boat. We were giving him a reference about a common sailing friend from the Caribbean who has signed up for three months in the Pacific. He describes the opportunity so well I quote him here. He e-mails: Saltair is a 2023 Hallberg-Rassy 57. She is a fast and comfortable offshore cruiser with a three cabin, two head layout. Crew share a large cabin with split single berths and share a head with our 13 year old son. We are a family of three and have been cruising the boat since picking her up in Sweden in June of 2023, sailing over 15,000 nm in her. For offshore passages, we typically sail with four adults onboard. Saltair is extremely well equipped and was purpose built for our circumnavigate. She has dual, redundant autopilots and redundancy in most critical systems, including energy generation, offshore communications, and emergency pumps. We are a fun, easy going crew and are looking for similar people. We are looking for sailors who have offshore experience on boats in the 50+' range and experience sailing and solo watch-keeping at night. We come from a yacht racing background and appreciate others who do as well. We all take turns with cooking and cleanup while on passage as well as pre-passage provisioning and setup and post-passage deep cleaning. Our son is schooled while underway so you should be comfortable sailing in a family environment. Personal characteristics that we value include: - Positive attitude, easy going and able to get along well with others over an extended passage at sea. A good sense of humor appreciated! - High level of personal integrity (owning and learning from our mistakes) - Young (and/or young at heart!), active and physically fit - Fishing and/or cooking skills appreciated! Are you able to help? This is an updated crew request after completing the first leg to Bermuda. Pro skipper XXXXXX got crew from OPO for the 1st leg and one OPO members is continuing the passage. His life partner is pregnant so is not making the last leg. If you are ready on short notice and can join him for this last leg, he would be happy for you to join. He has had bad luck with crew partly due to change of plans, (a baby changes everything??) but also with crew having last minute family issues (always a priority). 5/15/2025 from Marsh Harbour to Chesapeake Bay on a Fountain Pajot 47

OPO Crew Request # 25-49 Full time live-aboard, owner and skipper XXXXXX , is looking for two crew for a total of four for his sail north this May. He has a 2020 Fountain Pajot 47 named XXXXXX that he has lived aboard for five years and has 20,000 miles. He is RYA ICC/IYT Yachmaster skipper. You can see the boat a http://www.UUUUUU.com He has one crew arriving in early May. They plan a first week of cruising before planning to wait for a weather window to depart in the middle of the month for the passage to the 650 mile first hop to the Chesapeake Bay. His ultimate goal will be to get to LI Sound. If the weather is good and crew are doing well, he may continue to NY. He asks for crew with some offshore experience since you may have to stand a solo watch. ……. He Adds: 2020 Fountaine Pajot Saona 47, 3 queen berth cabins, very offshore and liveaboard equipped, sailed 20,000 nm from Atlantic coast France, 2 seasons in the Med, 2 seasons in the Caribbean. 5 years fulltime liveaboard, 20,000 nm. 105 lt/hr watermaker, 700 lt water tank, 920 lt diesel, 52 sqm Genoa, 75 sqm Mainsail, 120 sqm Code 0, 180 sqm Asymmetric Spi, 150 sqm Regular Spi, 4x bi-directional Harken winches with foot switches at pit, winch controls at helm and additional winch controls at nav desk in salon. Full B and G nav system with Hal024+ radar. Can fully reef at pit (no need to go to mast). Rigged for single-handing. Life jackets with PLB and all typical MOB equipment. Absolutely well-equipped galley for full time liveaboards. 2 fridges, 1 freezer I'd love to find a couple that would be ok to share a queen berth cabin, otherwise 2 singles and one would sleep on the sofa (I have 3 cabins total). My first crew is arriving in George Town Exumas on Friday April 25 and we'll take a week or so to make our way up to the Abacos. However while I've sailed all over Europe, crossed the Atlantic and done 2 single handed seasons in the Caribbean, I only did one delivery from Antigua to NYC and am not an expert on the weather windows that show up in May to go from Marsh Harbor to Chesapeake but it's only 4 days and I figure if a front comes in or northerly against the gulfstream, I'll tuck into Beaufort first before passing Cape Hatteras. But as my insurance demands I'm north of Cape Hatteras by June 1st, I'd like to be a bit conservative and get there well before. So I was going to hang around Abacos/Marsh Harbour in the 1st/2nd week of May and see when is good to cross. The passage is free with all onboard boat expenses and provisions included, but you need to get to and from the boat and have money for any food and drinks ashore. I plan to sail out on May 1, weather permitting. This boat is very well cared for and upgraded and equipped. OPO Crew Request # 25-75 Pro skipper XXXXXX is looking for two adventurous crew wish to join him on this offseason Trans-Atlantic passage delivering a big new Charter Catamaran from the factory to catamaran Guru. www.UUUUU.com. He  has been a pro skipper working with Atlas Delivery for the past 10 years. He has gotten crew from us before. I asked him about delivering a new boat from France across the Atlantic in the summer. He agrees with me that a promised date of delivery of a new boat in France is always a week late which is why the planned delivery date of mid to late July may end up being closer to the end of the month. Crew should be flexible and have time. He will also have Starlink to closely watch weather and carry drums of fuel to be able to make 200 miles day and plan to stay well east and then south sailing across to stay clear of Atlantic Storms. Yes, this is Hurricane season so you will want to make sure that you keep on eye on weather and have time for delays. He e-mails: I'm going on delivery from France to Fort Lauderdale with a bring new BALI 58. The boat should be out the manufacturer in July 23rd.We'll do a pit stop in Gibraltar (Spanish side) and Tenerife, Crossing to Sxm and Ft. Lauderdale area. Should take a month and half. 6/5/2025 from Grenada to Antigua to Azores to Lisbon Portugal on a Bowman 45

OPO Crew Request # 25-46 Boat owner and pro sailor XXXXXX is looking for one and possibly two crew for a total or 4 or 5 for this adventure. He has bought a Bowman 45 in Grenada. The plan is to have crew assemble in late May or early June and make a 7-to-10-day shakedown passage to Antigua to make sure the boat and crew are ready to make the much longer Trans-At to Europe after making sure everything and everyone is ready. He heard about us from a fellow pro skipper who he is helping delivery another boat from Bermuda to the UK this month. He will return to Grenada on 27th May to do some more work on the boat to get her ready for crew to arrive to help finish up and provision and make the first shakedown passage to Antigua. If all goes well, they will leave for the Azores about June 16th. He is a very experienced seaman with 8 Trans-ats including as a Global Challenge skipper in 2001-2004, Clipper round the world race skipper 2005/6 Liverpool to China, a commercial fisherman, and Lifeboat coxswain from 2013 to 2023. His first Trans-at was in 1997 when he raced a Whitbread 60 Dolphin and Youth in the ARC and has completed many short-handed races on his Open 50 Olympian challenger including the 2000 single-handed Europe 1 Plymouth to Newport RI in the TJV 2003. I spoke with him via what’s and he sounds like a nice guy with a good plan. While the boat is new to him, it has surveyed well and is a known strong offshore pedigree. He adds: The boat is fundamentally sound but I do have some servicing and rigging replacement happening over next six weeks I have just spent a second week aboard her crawling all over her and having her inspected beyond purchase survey as well as two sea trials. The standing rigging was replaced in 2021/22 with the exception of the aft lowers which are now being replaced as is the inner forestay which has an unfair lead on the upper toggle. The outer forestay backing plate is being removed and refitted with new bolts as a precaution due to service corrosion. 4 seacocks are seized and are being serviced replaced and the tiller arm to the new pilot from the rudder stock is rusty and is being removed inspected and replaced or cleaned as appropriate. The Guard wires are in poor condition and are all being replaced. Sails are good but are being given a service to ensure no poor stitching. The boat has a main with 3 reefs, Yankee and Staysails on curlers and a lightweight Gennaker. The boat has new 850w solar and both 24 and 12v systems cable able of charge from Solar, main engine or Generator. The boat will be freshly anti fouled and anodes replace as well as the fixed propellor being changed for a Gori folding prop which will give less drop. Options available Grenada to Antigua, Antigua to Azores and Azores to Lisbon preference would be for crew to do Grenada to Azores as a minimum but possibly can accommodate one doing entire trip and others doing legs. At this stage other than an early hurricane I see nothing that worries me unbolt that would prevent us completing trip however the main purpose of the shakedown from Grenada to Azores is to be sure - in the event that I / We are not happy we will abort and take her to a safe hurricane port either south back to Grenada or North to the east coast - I do not plan to stop in Bermuda but currently subject to latest routing I would anticipate passing 150 miles east giving us the option of Bermuda if needed. Can cater for most diets but limited refrigeration will mean it won’t be a gourmet cruise. No alcohol and no smoking on board. Please message me with any questions, I will be sailing from 16th April to early may but should have limited email access The passage is free will all boat expenses and onboard food included, but as usual you need to get and from the boat and have money for any meals and drinks ashore. If interested please send your sailing resume to him at XXXXX@XXXXX

OPO Crew# 25-40 Miami, FL to Westport, CT - Boat owner and skipper XXXXXX is looking for one or two semi experienced crew for a total of three crew to help sail his 2022 Beneteau 40.1 named XXXXXX north next month.  He has owned the boat for three years since new and has done several near costal passages, including taking the boat south last October. His plan is to stay near the coast and watch the weather and take the ICW if need be. He is fine having crew join him for parts of the passage and you can start or leave along the way since it is hard to say how long the entire passage will take. If you are open ended and have the time you can make the entire passage knowing it might take as long as three weeks, but you can also join for the first leg to Jacksonville, FL and then stay as long as you can. Or you can join as he travels your way and you can jump aboard and finish a portion of the passage. He Adds: The boat is very comfortable and safe. She has 3 cabins and two full heads with shower stalls. I am looking for one or two crew members with at least some sailing experience. Extensive experience is not required. I am willing to use crew members that are only available for a portion of the trip and am asking for a minimum commitment of only 7 days. I will cover your transportation costs. 4/23/2025 from Wilmington NC (Wrightsville Beach) to Boston MA on a Beneteau 40

OPO Crew Request # 25-42 Boat owner and skipper XXXXXX is looking for two or three crew to help deliver his boat from Wrightsville Beach to Boston. The boat is a 2009 Beneteau 40 named XXXXXX that is making its way up from the Caribbean as I write this crew request. She is offshore proven and will arrive in Wrightsville Beach this weekend. After a break and time for crew to join him, he plans to depart on the next good weather window after April 23rd. If the weather is good he would like to make miles and get as far as he can so the passage might take as little as 6 days, but figure one or two stops may add to a total passage time of 8 to 10 days. The boat has Start link so you will be able to get weather and stay in touch. She also has solar, watermaker, and current generation Raymarine electronics including AIS. All is working well. He is looking for crew with offshore experience and can stand a solo watch and is happy to help with transportation costs for the right crew. He e-mails: The boat is s an owners-layout Beneteau 40: two cabins, one head, with very comfortable sea berths on both port and starboard tack in the salon. She was first built in France and crossed the Atlantic to the Caribbean on her own hull by her first owners. I bought her from the first owners in November 2024 in Martinique, and am now working on bringing her home to Boston. I have crew helping me sail the boat from its current location in the Bahamas back up to the US. We will make landfall in Wrightsville beach soon. I have a few years of sailing experience in various places, and I'm comfortable handling my boat. This will be my first time doing this passage up the east coast. You can find the boat online at https://www.UUUUU.com The passage is fee with all onboard expenses included. For experienced crew he is willing to offer a travel stipend “within reason”. 4/15/2024 from Miami to Boston on a Beneteau 40

OPO Crew Request # 25-36 Boat owner and skipper XXXXXX is looking for two more crew for a total of three crew for his passage north. He has a 2018 Beneteau 40 named XXXXXX from Miami to Boston. He says crew do not need a lot of offshore experience but he wants crew that do know how to sail. If you have been seeking offshore sea time and want to build miles this may be a good opportunity. I assume he has a good autopilot and will make the passage in about 7 to 10 days. He does not include much information in his e-mail to me that you will have to ask a few more questions and decide if you want to e-mail him your sailing resume and phone number so you can ask more about his plan. We assume the passage is free with all onboard expenses included but you end to get to and from the boat. Send your sailing resume to him at XXXXX@XXXX

5/5/2025 from Muskegon MI to Bristol RI on a Beneteau 40

OPO Crew Request # 25-11 New boat owner and skipper XXXXXX bought a “fresh water kept” 1999 Beneteau First 40 named XXXXXX. The boat is in Michigan, she is in California and the boat needs to get to RI this spring. She is looking for two crew with some mechanical and navigational skills, for this estimated three-week delivery from MI to Bristol RI through the Great Lakes, the NY canal system, down the Hudson River around Manhattan and then the length of LI Sound to RI. This will entail taking the mast down and then re-stepping for bridge clearance to get down the Hudson River. The boat surveyed well and she can share pictures with you. Between being a new boat (to her) and having to take the mast down and put back up crew should be able to help prepare the rig for unstepping and restepping and also handle dock lines through the lock systems. She was born in New Zealand but has been living in the USA since 1985 spending summers in RI most recently. She is an enthusiastic sailor with many offshore miles as a crew and race experience on big and small boats. While semi-retired from Interior design she has been working a side gig as a marine journalist for many years covering regattas near and far. We have several friends in common in the marine trade magazine circles. She e-mails: I bought the boat not only as a bucket list item but also, as a woman, I wanted to take on the challenge of being able to run my own boat. I have been cruising since the late 80s on all kinds of sailboats and have made several blue water trips over the years including from Mauritius to South Africa, Key West to Antigua, and Vanuatu to American Samoa. I have been racing keel boats since 2000, and in the past few years have got into dinghy sailing and now own a Melges 15 which I am beginning to race. I am also an avid kiteboarder and am learning to wingfoil. Preferably crew can join for the entire three-week passage. For the right crew she would work with you to plan a crew change if you do not have three weeks off. The passage is free with all onboard expenses included, but you need to get to and from the boat and have money for meals and drinks where you stop. If interested please send your sailing resume and contact information to XXXXX@XXXX

3/2/2025 from Dominican Republic to Florida on a Amel 53

OPO Crew Request # 25-19 New Boat owner and skipper XXXXXX bought a 2001 an Amel 53 named XXXXXX that he is sailing from the Caribbean to Florida. He is looking for one or two crew to join he and his wife for the passage from the DR to Florida. He recently joined OPO on the recommendation of a good friend, yacht broker and delivery skipper who we have known for many years. The Amel is a well build and easy to sail ketch rig. I asked him for more information about himself and the boat. He e-mails: Our current schedule is the jump from the Dominican Republic to Florida where we plan to follow the Bahama chain up to Nassau and then head to Florida. Starting on or about March 12th. Weather pending. I know this is short notice. I need at least 1 but would prefer 2 crew members with some watch standing experience. The crew are welcome to stay until we reach the east coast of Florida which I hope would be 3 weeks or less with day hops planned. But if the crew is comfortable with the idea we could sail straight to Florida. I can train them on the systems of the boat. There are 2 of us currently on the boat. Husband and wife. I have sailing experience my wife very little. I learned to sail when I was 6 and sailed until I was 20 years old. I sailed a 33ft Trimaran from San Francisco to Hawaii in 1979, in December 2023 I sailed the same model of boat that I own from Half Moon Bay to Hawaii a 2300 NM journey. Currently on our boat we have sailed 700 NM from Grenada to the DR. I have some experience as a captain of my boat but, I am always open to learn more from someone experienced. The boat is an Amel Super Maramu 2000 53ft long with a 6 ft draft. She was built in 2001 and had a standing rig inspection in July of last year. The standing rigging was sound with no issues found. I am still learning about all the finer details of the systems on the boat. It is a ketch rig with a deep center cockpit with an offset helm. She sleeps 7 people, has a fwd V Berth with its own head and shower, cabinets for personal items and a closet that can be used. We have a new liferaft and recently serviced life vests for all crew and additional guest. The engine is well maintained and has low hours. The generator also has low hours and is well maintained. Both are located in a watertight compartment. The boat itself has 5 watertight compartments. There are 5 fire extinguishers one is mounted inside the engine room. Also in the engine room is a functional water heat which is also heated by the engine coolant system. Most of the electronics are original from the factory except for the AIS (currently only receives until I get a replacement gps antenna) and 2 B and G chartplotters from 2022. The passage is free with all onboard expenses included. Since this is short notice and they are underway I did not want to take more time asking questions to help qualify this passage opportunity better. To save time I am sending this out today since I will be traveling tomorrow. If interested please send your sailing resume to him and confirm details about joining them. For the right crew he may be willing to help with a travel stipend, but I have not confirmed since that would delay sending out the crew request. Please send your sailing resume and questions to him at  XXXXX@XXXX

OPO Crew Request # 25-21 Boat owner and skipper XXXXXX is looking for two more crew for total of five crew for his annual passage home. Most likely one or two of the other crew are repeat OPO members as he builds up a crew list from OPO members who have sailed with him in the past. 5/23/2025 from St Maarten to Huntington, NY on a Amel

OPO Crew Request: UPDATED: Boat owner and skipper XXXXXX was all set with crew until one called in sick. This is for his annual passage North, a nonstop passage from Sint Maarten to Huntington NY. He asked that I send this out again and let OPO members know that this is a very easy boat to sail so crew do not need a lot of experience. He has other crew and likes to sail with four people to make it easy for all. The added bonus is that you end up in Huntington NY so if I am not on another delivery, I often meet him and his crew upon arrival at the Huntington Yacht Club where he keeps the boat in the summer, since I live two minutes away from the club. The Amel is a center cockpit boat with power roller furling main and genoa, and 2 good auto-pilots. He keeps the boat in great shape since he has the means to keep her in perfect shape. He has made the passage over 40 times. If you have not found a passage north yet this spring you can send him your sailing resume and he will call you back. Hot showers every and very good hot dinners. He pays all on board expenses. Write him directly at XXXXXX@XXXXXXcall him at 1-XXX-XXX-XXXX. Due to the short notice he will pay a reasonable airfare to Sint Maarten. He would like to leave weather permitting no later than May 24 at 3pm. However, this is a bit flexible. Main criteria is that you play well with others.

4/2/2025 from Colon, Panama to Nova Scotia, Canada on a 47' Van De Stadt

OPO Crew Request # 25-22 Boat owner and skipper XXXXXX is looking for two or three more crew for a total of four for this passage from the Caribbean side of the Panama Canal to Nova Scotia. He has one repeat crew who may be coming but is not 100% sure yet. The boat is a 1989 47 foot Van De Stadt named XXXXXX that he has owned for 15 years and has made 5 Trans-Atlantic crossing. Since you will be standing a solo watch sometimes you have to have some offshore experience doing solo watches. The boat is “fully equipped for passage making and cruising with a full sail locker and racing history. Comfortable downstairs. Strong, aluminum build with solid dog house which makes watch keeping a joy. Well-equipped for long distance cruising, water-maker, 2 x fridges, 800Ah house battery, separate nav battery, star link. Cat 0 offshore boat, all the safety equipment from life raft to epirbs to lifejackets with AIS beacons.” He has a web site https://www.UUUUUU.com. He has no set itinerary, which is a good things, as a schedule can be the worst plan, but explains his outline. He explains: In terms of the actual passage I am in the early stages of planning. I am getting back to the boat on the 2nd of April having left it on a mooring for 2 months. Need to unpack the boat, rerig the sails, basically take it out of storage mode before getting passage ready (buy food and diesel etc.). I reckon it will take at least a week, more like ten days to get her ready, quicker depending on when the crew gets to the boat and how much help I have recommissioning. My passage plan looks something like: 2 April I arrive at boat 4 - 8 April crew arrives 10 to 12 April Depart from Shelter Bay Marina heading ultimately for Halifax Nova Scotia or somewhere in that region, I am looking at stopping at the Cayman Islands on the way, maybe the Bahamas and probably Chesapeake and/or New York. I could well stop in Chesapeake for a few weeks and do some boat work there. So I am looking for crew for two passages really. Ultimately, I want to get the boat to the Gulf of St Lawrence by the end of May. As usual you need to get to and from the boat and have money for meals and drinks ashore. He will pay for all onboard boat expenses and provisioning. He says he normally eats out when not sailing eating at local places. If interested in speaking with him to help zero in on a plan you can send your sailing resume to him at XXXXX@XXXX

5/19/2025 from Florida to Newport on a 46 Leopard Catamaran

OPO Crew Request # 25-64  I normally would not send out a crew request with so little information, but this is for a good friend and pro skipper who has sailed most of our NARC Rallies from Newport to the Caribbean since 2000. Pro skipper XXXXXX sent a short e-mail with a request for one or two crew to join he and his girlfriend on a delivery passage from Florida to Newport. The boat is a 2011 46 Leopard Catamaran. They left Ft. Lauderdale and are on their way north to West Palm and then to Charleston SC and eventually Newport. He is a very easy going and very competent skipper who was the full-time skipper of a Swan 61 until the owner got too old and sold her. He is based out of Newport and is a very good person to know. He does not give us a lot more information to go on. He is happy to hear from any OPO members who may wish to join him anywhere along the way. His e-mail address is XXXXXX@XXXX You can send him an e-mail and ask more questions. Of course the passage is free with all onboard expenses included. You can ask him about helping with travel expenses for the right crew who can stand a good watch. I imagine his plan how much to sail offshore or ICW will be based on weather and if he gets additional crew. This could be a very good passage opportunity for a couple. E-mail him your resume and cell number and I am sure he will call you.

4/20/2025 from Abaco, Bahamas to Tortola, British Virgin Islands on a 45 Leopard Catamaran

OPO Crew Request # 25-32 Pro delivery skipper XXXXXX is looking for one more crew for a total of three crew for this upwind passage from the Bahamas to the BVI. There is one other crew already. Both he and the mate are YRA certified skippers. He Adds: The third crew we are searching from OPO does not need a lot of offshore sailing. Just a good pair of eyes and sensible! The boat is five years old and named XXXXXX. It has a generator and water maker. He has gotten crew from us before and it worked out well. I like passage opportunities with delivery skippers since they can sail the boat themselves, but need an extra crew or two to help get some sleep and be good watchkeepers, knowing when to wake the skipper and when not to. Crew will have their own cabin. Marsh Harbour, Abaco, Bahamas is where you will fly into. The passage is free with all onboard expenses included, but you need to get to and from the boat and have money for e-meals and drinks ashore. IF interested please send your sailing resume to him at XXXXX@XXXX

6/6/2025 from Fernandina Beach, FL to Portsmouth, NH on a 40' Steel Boat

OPO Crew Request # 25-70 Boat owner and skipper XXXXXX is looking for one more crew for a total of four crew to help sail this 1987 custom 40-foot steel boat named XXXXXX that he has owned over 20 years. He e-mailed yesterday and I spoke with him on the phone today. His crew is his 20 year-old son who knows the boat very well and a friend of his who is a small boat sailor. The plan is to leave this Friday or Saturday and sail from Florida to Portsmouth NH. He has owned two previous classic strong boats, a Krogen 38 cutter, Grampian 26. He Adds Built for comfort not speed, she's a great boat. I've owned her for 23 years. She's not super fancy but she is fully functional. I generally cover ~150 mi/day. I have sailed many thousands of miles on this vessel and several before it. My son grew on with this boat. Fully equipped for offshore passage making. Life Raft, ebirb, ssb, starlink, drogues, storm sails, etc.. He sounds like a nice guy and knows what he is doing, but it is an older boat, so go in with eyes wide open. The passage is free with all onboard boat expenses and onboard provisions included, but you end to get to and from the boat. If interested please send your sailing resume to him at XXXXX@XXXX
