Private Boat owners needing crew
- We help find crew for the many individual boat owners that are voyaging
all over the world. Most people who are cruising for a long time run
out of friends and family that have the time to sail with them and they
turn to us for their crew needs. If they are sailing as a couple they
have come to realize that having additional crew for long passages makes
the trip much more enjoyable as they get to spend some "off watch time"
with their other half.
Opportunities through helping with a Yacht Delivery...
Yacht Delivery Service
- A percentage of the offshore passage opportunities that come our way are
from delivery skippers looking for crew. In today's busy world there
are boat owners boat that do not have the time to move their boats and
need us to put a crew together for them. I have been a delivery
skipper for the past 15 years and have competed hundreds of deliveries.
We also have three other OPO members that we have worked with and now
are delivery skippers that we refer work to. They often need crew which
is another source of free offshore passage opportunities for OPO
Members.
- Making deliveries are an ideal way to learn a lot about sailing and
boats in general. You are always lead by an experienced professional
Captain that you can learn from. Secondly you do not always have the
luxury of picking the perfect weather since you need to try and keep to
a schedule and not run into extra time delays. The skipper is anxious
to get the best performance out of the boat to get there as soon as
possible. And lastly you get to see a lot of different boats and
systems, and how to fix them.
- If you are available on short notice (from two days to two weeks) you
will want to make sure you are registered on our short notice board.
Your chances of going sailing on one of these deliveries go way up if we
know you are ready on short notice and we know to call you when they
occur.
Opportunities through participation in a Rally ...
- The Rally Concept has grown since the first ARC Rally organized by Jimmy
Cornell in 1986. Unfortunately, participation in most all cases is
restricted to those fortunate enough to have more time, more boat and
more money than we do.
- Offshore Passage Opportunities Rally participation to the majority of
sailors who dream of going offshore but are not in the group targeted by
the Rally organizers.
- Offshore Passage Opportunity order of seniority, will chose the leg(s)
of an Around the World Circumnavigation that best suits their interest
and time schedule. Members wishing to go offshore sooner may also use
our services to explore earlier opportunities crew networking system.
- While following our own constructions schedule and forming crews, we
will keep you abreast of Rally opportunities and how you can contact the
Rally organizers regarding possible crew positions.
- If you are not already a member of Offshore Passage Opportunities, we
encourage you to fill out a membership application and mail it along
with a $199.00 Membership fee to begin to chart your course towards an
Offshore Passage Opportunity.
