Come sail with us aboard our own Swan 48 named "Avocation". This will be the 30th anniversary of the regatta and our 6th year particpating. You do not have to be an expert racing sailor or have particpated in a race before. We sail with 13 to 15 crew and we have two days of practice to get comfortable with your position aboard.
Crew should plan to arrive on Monday March 1st flying into the Island of St. Maarten. Tuesday we get the boat race ready and get to meet each other. Wednesday and Thursday are practice days with the actual racing starting on Friday. There are 4 to 6 races over the next three days as we compete in the spinnaker division.
Avocation has a new carbon rig and new sails so we are very competative. This is the only regatta where our sailmaker has time to join us. This will be his 4th year aboard for this regatta. We placed 2nd one year. If you would like to sail with us and experience one of the biggest and best sailing regattas of the Caribbean Season please contact us. All you need is a $500 deposit now and the balance of $2250 is not due until 45 days before the event. If you would like to bring a spouse or friend to watch they are welcome to join for an addiitonal $1000 and stay in the same accomodations listed below.
Accommodations
We had three 6 bed apartments in the new building on the water at the Pelican Resort across the street from where the boat is docked in Simpson Bay Lagoon. This new building has the big pool with the “wet bar” as in you sit in the pool and belly up to the bar. We also rent a van and a car for the crew. Accommodations and the car rentals are included in the fee for the regatta makiing it very simple for you to get into our program. We even provide crew shirts. All you have to do is block out the time, contact us and make your own travel plans to and from the boat.
